We don't often have a meet like this. Mainly because no one wants to be stuck with all the dirty work and planning. The opportunity is here, take advantage of it. Though it's not apparent, there has been much work so far.

Dude, you need to chill a little bit. You want to give him a straight answer (whether or not he'll be able to attend the meet without money)?

Appropriate answers would be

* yeah, sure, we'll squeeze you in, although if you can find $5.00 in your pockets before coming, it'd be much appreciated.

* No, sorry, we're just too broke, can't afford to put this event together without everybody chipping in

* Sorry, no can do, but watch for future events which will not require any money upfront

Otherwise, leave him (her) alone. I don't like the tone here. Sounds like "meet me in the alley" definitely not appropriate in this forum, OK?

Say the word and I'll cancel the meet. I have no problem with that.

Well, I don't know why you are overreacting.

There is no problem other than toning it down with the member who wanted to come in for free. Like I said, there are a lot of ways to say no.

I don't know you guys personally so I don't know if there is a problem from previous meets or what's going on, and all I see is the thread. If I made a mistake, and if you want to explain, then please do, PM me, PM any mod and tell them what the problem is. Otherwise, we don't know and all we see is the thread.

Just to say it once because we've had the same problem before in a different region, in general, just be aware that if you do plan meets through the forum, they are usually for the benefit of any forum member, based on mutual camaraderie, not just for a select clique. You (and I don't mean you, Yaris me, I mean anyone) can't just use the forum to plan meets and randomly decide to exclude other forum members. Doesn't work that way.

You can set the rules of the meet from the get go but you can't just say "hey you don't fit in our little clique so you're not in"

Again, if I made a mistake, you, Yarisme, or someone else, please tell me. Otherwise, Yaris me, I suggest you just relax, take a big deep breath and just chill. There is no harm done, just go on with your plans and have fun with the peeps. Tell the member "no, sorry, everybody has to pay" and that's it, end of story, no need to make a big fuss out of it, or start fighting or whatever. OK?

I hope I made my position clearer.

tomato
11-03-2010, 12:09 AM
