On a 1st gen - Yes. On a 2nd gen - No.

The one in that ebay link is, It has a daughter board on there. As sloppy as it looks, you can take the 28pin chip on there slap it in a programmer, find maps, and reprogram. They are smart to scratch out the chip numbers so people will have a hard time replicating that board. Along with all that tasty looking silicone on it.

But what sort of software would be required to do so, or does someone have to go through and learn all the code?

To program that you would need a chip reader .$100-$200

Hex Editor Software $free

Knowledge to go through the code and find the maps.

Knowledge to go through the code and find the maps. And that's where you lose me. I have enough useless info stuck in my head as it is, no room for anything else, nor the learning curve to go with it.:frown:
