That's right folks, time for another performance part GB!!! I've received requests from numerous yarisworld.com members so this time we have a lightened OEM size crank pulley available from NonStopTuning (NST). It's a single groove crank pulley which will fit both the liftback and the sedan. The price will be $115USD via PayPal or $130CAD via Email money transfer. Pricing includes shipping direct to your door US/Canada. Each pulley comes with a 1 year warranty.

We need a minimum order quantity of 12 pcs, and we'll leave the GB open until January 2, 2007. Payments can be made to my paypal account, after the GB closes I will transfer funds and we should receive the parts in 4-6 weeks.

Any additional import taxes, duties, and brokerage fees where applicable, are the responsibility of the buyer.

Attached picture is to give you an idea of what the product will look like, but is not an accurate representation of the final product.

The NonStopTuning Lite series is a designation used for pulleys that are light-weight versions of their OEM counterparts. All NST pulleys are built using High quality 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum and are easily 50% to 60% lighter than steel or cast iron OEM pulleys.

The NST Lite series is designed for owners looking to reduce weight and increase the throttle response of their engines. These OEM-diameter pulleys will neither underdrive nor overdrive the associated accessories but can still lead to great throttle response and improved horsepower numbers in many applications.

how does it compare to the c-one pulley?

paultyler_82
12-16-2006, 05:27 AM
the C-One is an underdrive pulley, I beleive.

dngz
12-16-2006, 06:37 AM
so which is better?

paultyler_82
12-16-2006, 08:19 AM
that depends on what you're looking for, just know that underdrive pulleys sometimes require smaller belts or can cause unwanted suprises with alternators, a/c compressors, and so forth, so these lightweight pulleys like the NST are the better if you don't want the headaches that can unexpectedly occur with some underdrive pulleys

is this only for mt or at as well?

riceboy
12-16-2006, 02:49 PM
Not sure how it compares to the c-one but this one won't require any different belts. I'll find out about the MT vs AT issue, but I'm pretty sure that you'll see gains either way.

ChinoCharles
12-16-2006, 04:11 PM
What kind of gains? I'm too lazy to do the research but what have other people with subcompacts said after installing one of these?

eco

The C-one is not an under-drive pulley, but by the looks of it,I shoulda waited. The C-one is $270,so this is a great deal, wish I coulda got in riceboy, but its already on its way here, now I might think about selling it,Ill see how it goes when I do the install.

does anybody know the weight ration between this pulley and the OEM pulley? and how much will it really add on to the power of the car?

paultyler_82
12-17-2006, 04:10 AM
It doesn't actually add any power, it just frees up a bit of power that was there all along... takes more power to spin a pulley that is two times heavier than another. I wasn't really sure if the C-One was an underdrive pulley or not, basically the only difference is probably price, but for JDM junkies, the C-One is a good pulley for a decent price, if you MUST have JDM product. But this pulley is probably the better deal. Both pulleys should work for A/T or M/T, the crank pulley shouldn't be different between versions. Always remember, mods like this work better in conjunction with other bolt ons, allows you to squeeze out as much power as you can.

They have a pretty cool website, www.NonStopTuning.com

According to their site all their pulleys are about 60 to 70% lighter than stock. Some of the comparisons look very impressive.

curious is the shop manual it says the pully is dampened, but this one isn't what effects will this have on the car?

I took a look around their site and found stuff like:

Weight comparisons between OEM and NST pulleys

Honda Civic
OEM Crank 74oz NST 24oz
OEM Alternator 08oz NST 03oz
OEM Water Pump 22oz NST 08oz

Scion tC
OEM Crank 59oz NST 14oz
OEM Alternator 10oz NST 03oz
OEM Water Pump 14oz NST 06oz

Nissan 350Z
OEM Crank 100oz NST 23oz
OEM Alternator 08oz NST 03oz
OEM Water Pump 15oz NST 12oz

These numbers are all about 70% lighter than the OEM numbers.
Are you suggesting that these are false claims and that their pulley numbers are false fabrications?

I also noticed that, and no thats not what Im saying,I was just saying that how could the benifits be the same, maybe they dont do any testing of theyre products, besides weight change.

I actually had the chance to talk to Mike from NST today for a bit about the part and what their pulleys do and are capable of. Pretty cool stuff... their products have worked wonders for Scion tC's, Acura TSX's, and they're even working on fitting a pulley kit into a Lotus Elise. Expected gains on the 1NZ-FE are mild, but the increased engine response you'll see from a pulley will help out a bit with that straight line speed issue. What is also nice is that if we can convince some companies to develop some other engine components, NST will likely continue to deliver the right pulley for the job. The tC community now has something like 11 pulley options from NST alone. Lets all hope we have a new supporting vendor soon!

Extremely cool link with some extremely encouraging numbers.
