Although I am not ready to get new ones yet, I was wondering if 195/60/17 would fit/rub on my 17x7.5 rims?

Not familiar with that tyre size. Where did you come up with that?

215/50R17 is as big as I think you can go with out any major problems.... but I am with Kimona... I am not familiar with that tire size either

I think theyd fit, but I'd go a little larger.. IMO

I saw someone else had 60mm sidewalls, and right now I have 40mm. I have 205/40/17 or something. I guess I should look, huh? I just wanted more sidewall the next time around.

Is your ride too rough?

Not really, but I would just like more tire between the rim and the road myself. Okay, there's a 205/60 R17.5 that Bridgestone makes. Would that be too much? I guess I need 17-inch tires, not 17.5. I have no idea.

tires read...

205mm (wide)/ 40% (of tire width) 17in (rim size)

So for example and 205/40 has a sidewall hight of of just 82mm. (205 x 40% [or 0.4] = 82)

A 195/60 would have a sidewall hight of 117mm and would be WAY too big.

25.4mm = 1in

82mm = 3.23in.

3.23 + 17 (rim size) = 20.23in

117mm = 4.6in

4.6 + 17 = 21.6in.

21.6 - 20.23 = 1.37in.

That's quite a bit taller and you more than likely rub.

This concludes our math lesson for the day.

Okay, thanks BlueVitz. So I would need a 50 profile tire then at the most?

Let me make this way easier. What is the largest tire I can use on a 17x7.5 rim?

I'm afraid my tire n00bness is showing badly. :/

That works out to a 97.5mm or 4.04in sidewall.

so 20.84 - 20.23 = .61in taller. It might work.

The tallest tyre you could install with stock suspension is 205/50/17... provided you have proper wheel offset.

205/50/17 like kimona said.:thumbsup:

just a note:
tires that are meant for 17.5" dia. wheel should NOT be used on a 17" dia. wheel.

Where did you get 17.5" Ø wheel from? It was said on a 17x7.5

I thought the rims I got said 17 x 7.5, but I don't know. Offset was 40. Seems I don't know much.

I'm just going to try to move up to a 50 profile next go round. Thing is, my current tires are new so it will be awhile before I buy anyway.
