HELP! - I Can't open my rear door - Any ideas?

Hi Folks,

The rear door on my Yaris 1.0 T3 has been making an internittant noise when I lock it for sometime (a few years). But it worked OK and thought it was just one of those things.

But today, when I press the key fob to open the car, the rear door (drivers side) wouldn't open. I've tried numerous times to open it without any joy.

I can't open it from inside either as the darn child lock is on.

Does anybody know how I can get the door open (and if anything get the child lock off) without taking it to a main dealer?

Did you try unlocking it manually from inside and then opening it with the outside handle?

Tried that but it still didn't open. However, a combination of pushing on the internal lock and using the key fob at the same time and it finally released. I've turned the child lock off and the darn thing is working perfectly again. Locking and unlocking perfectly with no strange noise either.

Maybe I'd better get somebody to look at it in case it happens again. Must be a gremlin somewhere!
