Curvy pipe. And yes.

Where is the connection to the midpipe in ur pic?
Does it go engine- >manifold->turbo->downpipe->exhaust ?
Thanks focus!

So there are 3 connections/matings on the turbo:
Manifold
air out to.exhaust (hot)
air in to ic/tb (cool)
Focus_Sh1ft
09-25-2010, 10:18 PM
Yup, you got it. Here's where it connects.

Last thing, is.that.the.stock midpipe and if so.what.is.the diameter?
Focus_Sh1ft
09-25-2010, 10:58 PM
Yeah, I guess. I had a catback exhaust made and had the reasonator chopped off, but that can't be seen from the above obviously.
Stock diameter piping is 1.75" for the most part, I believe.

Thank you soooo much, focus.
I keep confusing myself with this stuff.

Would this downpipe work? Or would it need to be custom bent?

Not as is.

Pretty close though, no?
What part needs modded? Is it too long or the angle not right?

Sleey0, The down pipe is the link between your turbo and exhaust. Depending on what kind of turbo you buy will depend on the type of down pipe that is used. The one pictured looks cast. Alot of people need a custom fabricated one made out of stainless for exact fitment.
This will require you to have the car on site for the fabricator to do this. Which is why garm may be having a issue with getting his kit out. But if you live in CA. there is a shit ton of people to do this work.
To answer your question I know several people who can make this down pipe and make it beautiful. But the car will have to be on site to do this.
This is a easy task I cant figure out why this whole turbo thing is now becoming so complicated.

Garm I don't know if y'all have talked about it or not but why don't you just make a kit with everything you need but a downpipe and set a little lower price so people can buy your kit and have a little bit of money to get the downpipe set he'll if anyone live in nc and needs any kind of exhaust work done I know the best people with good prices

It is only complicated because there aren't any kits or many aftermarket parts for the Yaris.
Throw my stupdity in the mix and viola!!! You have complications. lol
And I don't live in Cali aka Tuner HEavan.

Ok, from looking at pictures that have been posted. It looks as if FocusShift has the best solution for a exhaust manifold. His is cast, which means cheaper to produce, consistancy will be the same, because it's cast and price will be on target.
So I would say use that exhaust manifold use the Garrett 25 series turbo and if FocusShift still has his print from his fabricator on the down pipe your golden.
If not then someone will need to cowboy-up and collect all the parts then go to a fabricator and have a down pipe made and blue printed for further manufacturing.
The way I see it the kit should look like this:
FocusShift cast exhaust manifold
Garrett 25 series Turbo w/ built in waste gate
Stainless made down-pipe
Tial Q BOV (black)
HKS mini filter for more engine bay clearence
Mishimoto intercooler (black)
AEM/FIC
Precision 280-310cc injectors
Perrin or OBX fuel Rail (optional)
Walboro 255L fuel pump (optional)
2.5" polished aluminum piping for inter-cooler kit.
3" for filter side
This would be an ideal kit with room to grow, especially if you do the optional upgrades that I suggested.
And with proper tune would get you into the 180-200 hp range on stock internals. But don't push it past that...you will brake shit!
Aprox cost before install and without optional parts:
3,100.00
Also this is without cuplers or T-bolts or the piping so add another 300.00
3,400.00
that is assuming you can get the down pipe made for 375-400 dollars
This would be an absolute reliable kit with lots of fun for years to come.

I have no information regarding the downpipe because I bought my setup as a kit from Zage. I could potential run some measurements, But I feel like that's pointless unless you're running the same manifold and, most likely, turbo.
Sleey0, I still don't understand why you're so against the Zage kit lol. It would actually be cheaper than what XBG is suggesting, but of course the quality may not be as good. I would imagine it would be a hell of a lot easier to just order a kit and throw it on rather than worrying about piecing it together. You could always upgrade later on too. Up to you though, and whatever you choose, I'm cheerin you on bro.

The Zage kit isn't that bad. For what you want I think it's ideal. If you want room to grow or just want something thats a little better than go with what I put.
Here's a pic of that Zage manifold. You can buy it for 340.00AUD

Great starting point and use can use that garrett turbo.

Thx.for.all the awesome info xbg!
The only issue ihave is that i want the garrett turbo instead of the.zage.
So my problem is the downpipe which wont fit the gt2554r so ive been told.
The rest of the zage kit is fine.
Can anyone confirm or deny that i can swap out the zage for a garrett with zages kit?

The Garrett uses a 5 bolt flange for the downpipe & the Zage uses a 4 bolt. Just look at your own pics youve posted....

That is what I thought:)
Remember, I am a n00b Carlos! I know you can fabricate one.
I am in touch with Innovative Tuning and Swerve both out in WNY.
I appreciate everything and have met soooo many cool ppl here. Plus you guys are very patient with me:) lol

Oh, and I am not against the Zage kit. I think it is good. I just don't want that turbo or the intercooler.
If I could just swap out the zage for the garrett all of this would be moot.
I am contacting Innovative and we shall find out if they can do a custom downpipe for the garret and garm's manifold.

Get the exhaust manifold from Cali-Yaris, it's 249.00 and will fit the Garrett turbo.
No matter who you go to they will still need your car to fit the down-pipe. That part of the equation still hasn't changed. So no matter who you call they will need your car to make it right.

Well...yes...yes..I am
Flying out in less than 9 days with one stop in Budahpest.
This has been one interesting night. I almost can't quite laughing at all the posts. You can really see who has been doing this for awhile.
We really all need to find a place to get together, some where centrally located. We'd have a blast. Perhaps the major few on this site can come up with a show or meet and greet some where.
Someone PM me. I know I could get Todd the owner of Bradenton motorspeedway to help us with a event at his dragstrip. It's in Fl. and it's where NOPI events use to be along with Import face off.
Food for thought.

^ Import Alliance in Nashville. Several of the members here hit that meet every year. Next year I'll have a booth, we could do a forced induction show.

10-01-2010, 03:11 PM
Lets do that. What size booth? Side bar me. We can chat business. Mabey get a bigger booth put both our cars in it and see about enough room for parts. I may be able to even pull some sponsor money for us. We could make this a pretty cool time.

Is there any turbo that will mate with zage downpipe besides the zage? Basically I want to know if the zage turbo can be upgraded later on by just dropping in another turbo. I know it would have to be a 4-bolt setup. Is that specific to Zage or is there others like greddy, hks, etc that use the 4-bolt pattern?
Thanks!

I would like to see that Yaris meet in Nashville. Its nice for the midwest, south and east coasters. Only Cali guys would have a long haul. But Cali guys got everything car related allready.
My uncle restored a 71" Pantera in Bakersfield CA. and he was able to buy most of his parts within driving distance.
Whenever I do anything car related short of brake pads it needs to be ordered. And Chicago and burbs is not a small area.
I just wish we had the shops that are in Cali. Its the car Mecca.
