Is 30,000 miles time for a tune up?

I've had my 09 Yaris since 01/02/09, and I'm approaching 30,000 miles. I've kept up with my oil changes and tire rotations every 5,000 or so miles.

I was wondering if I should get a tune up now that I'm hitting this milestone. This is my first new car, and I want to keep it in top shape.

What all does a tune up entail, and what should I ask for when I go to the dealership to get this done? I don't want to get things done that aren't needed, or spend more than I have to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is really nothing to "tune up" on a Yaris or any new car these days.
The spark plugs are good for up to 100k miles.

As long as it is running fine, just change the air filter as Kou said.
However, don't get the filter from the dealer and let them install it, they will rape you for the rediculous price they would want for it.

I'm a hair from 87k miles in just over 4 years and other than routine oil changes and filter changes I haven't done any "major" service. For our cars, the 30, 60k mile deals are a rip off.

Another thing you can begin to think about doing is exchanging the coolant sometime in mid 2012 (3 year interval or so). You can buy the original type coolant for about $22 at the Toyota parts department - it has special additives, I wouldn't use just anything. Extremely easy to do yourself at night, in a hidden place over a drain hole.

If you want to be good to Yaris, wash it, including the engine compartment. Spray some wax or something.

If you have a manual transmission, you should change the mtg lube every 30k. I ran mine for 60k w/o any issues, but I did change it out. Aside from that, I think it's just the routine engine oil and oil filter change, inspect/change air filter, etc. Check the level of your engine coolant as mine had almost evaporated away (dealership said it is a normal thing in newer cars?).

Mine evaported away quite a bit as well, but since it's a 'closed system', I couldn't figure out how that's possible.

it really is up to you. If you know a little about cars, just check everything to make sure it is ok.

I've done a couple of services, and they really were not necessary, but I had the extra money and just wanted to make sure everything was perfect.

Been noticing my coolant has been going down too. Seems fine still.

Also (if you have one installed), take a look at your cabin air filter same time you change the engine air filter. You might be surprised how quickly it can get dirty.
