View Full Version : Tired of modding yaris ......
I am sick of modding my pals yaris....just got the RS sideskirts installed - these were bought from MI....lots and lots of prep work just to have a semi smooth surface to paint on then had the do crazy stuff like heat the skirts with a torch and hand bend and contour both skirts just to get a semi good fit.
it just takes all the fun away....hood was a bit less work and the rear spoiler needed major work also... darn i am used to wavy glass and odd fitting parts, been modding cars since the early 1980s, but aftermarket yaris parts are really poor quality IMO...:iono:..Anyone else have this issue ??

I had the exact same issue with my front bumper, I paid hundreds to get it fit, and they gave up and now I have poor fitment where the front bumper meets the fenders. They would have worked more but knew the costs were going to be to high. Best bet is to stay away from the replica parts, and go with genuine. They cost more up front, but WAY less prep work. Sorry to hear you had such a problem with the skirts. :frown:
you know i think your 100% on the factory parts....as for the skirts they were so warped it was crazy, like i said if you were not ready to grab a torch heat them and hand rebend the plastic ,then you were better off not getting those.BTW...I blame factory ! NOT MI OR THE GUY WHO SOLD ME THE SKIRTS !

The best quality stuff is true JDM stuff, but then for body kit parts, it often doesn't fit our USDM cars -- sideskirts are a good example.
I'm sorry they were of poor quality. Body kit parts are definitely not a focus any more for my company at this point. too. much. trouble.
the skirts did seem to be made for another car...weird how they changed the specs just enough to cause some hair pulling.....I am aware that MI does not make these parts and am also glad someone is takeing the time to import yaris parts but darn those aftermarket parts makers !!!
Its all good in the end and they do look cool..I just did not plan on melting plastic and reforming it.....so just wanted to blow steam off..

Well now that you have the skirts fitted I'd be happy to buy them from you sometime, lol. I can't wait to see your car in person sometime, I'm sure it's looking really good now.

Yeah my rs side skirts fit like crap and still need to be pulled off and heated up for a better fit . Imo if you were really that worried about oem fitment you should of bought oem jdm side skirts not replica's , just saying

We are fully braceing the underside ,so don't want to drop it till I see how low the braces are....I think tire shine is like crack for tires once you start it's hard to stop..lol

^^ I got full gtspec underbracing and only scrape when I have my cusco coilover all the way maxed out for shows( the springs are also 1" shorter than stock cusco springs over all about 8" lower than stock yaris suspension ) Fully dumped my front 4-point brace honestly only has about 2" of clearence from the lowest point to the ground . All the bracing + the same size wheels and tire you're rolling now + any lowering springs on the market won't put you low enough to scrape the underside bracing .

Just go with kaminari.
Very high quality and there entire lip kit is like $500 right now.
Plus it is polyurethane which is much easier to work with, unlike that other crap fiberglass injected plastic or whatever.

Factory skirts & lip kits are always the best for fit.
That was one of the reasons for my choice when I ordered my 08 ''S'' LB
I think I've yet to see an aftermarket skirt kit, hood, or front or rear bumper that actually fit as well as factory. Yes, some have come close but it seems one side has proper gaps and the other is noticeably off. Its these things that bug me about aftermarket panels vs factory panels.I do see improvements but I would bet that the person who installed the panels was forced to modify the new mods they were installing. Sure Toyota may not have the extreme mods some of us like but again, they do fit. :respekt:
