might be of some help to others in the future if you would let us know what you found.

the shield behind my left front brake drum was dented in pretty badly. when i would turn the wheel all the way to the left or right it would rub against the back of the drum a tad

i ended up taking the wheel off, and with a pair of pliers bending it back in to shape as much as i could

no more grinding noise!

thanks for posting what you found. I had the same problem, when I picked up my new 09 Yaris it was raining but I could still hear a slight grinding noise from my left front driving home. The next day it was nice and sunny so we took the Yaris for a drive, with no water to quiet the noise it sounded like shit. Drove back home and removed the left front wheel, just as I thought the front brake rotor shield was slightly touching the rotor....pushed it back a little and no more noise.
