not to hijack a thread, but can anyone help me...perhaps I am straight short bus, but I have a suede shift boot that I just received that is very similar to the ones in the OP with the little slits. How in the hell do you mount this thing???

You would mount the shift boot just like the stock rubber boot. It take a couple minutes. Remove platic trim around the rubber boot and line up the slits with the little ridges of the plastic trim

TRD shift knob lowered to $45. That's $20 cheaper than regular price for a mint "as new" shift knob.
