Status update: I just got the digital readout working on my DIY speedometer/tachometer combination. The tachometer has been working for a week and I just got the speedometer part up and running this evening. Using the Parallax Propeller multi-core-micro-controller I have 50% of the project working in the car, on the road with a breadboard version. When I get this complete Yaris owners that have altered their tire/wheel diameters will be able to correct the readout on the extra instrumentation to GPS accuracy with just a laptop.
Two parts still have to be programmed: 1) the 33 lite LED analog tach. 2) the outdoor temperature and humidity sensor for the in dash display.

The 33 lite led analog tach sounds bit too much. Would the tach be customize to half the amount of leds
