Hey guys,

I'm new to the forum but because i'm quite a noob when it comes to cars, i really need some of your help!! I'm trying to buy a 2010 Yaris YR 1.3L 5 door Automatic in Eclipse black. I live in Sydney, Australia.

So question 1: what extra packages should i ask for?

and question 2: what is a fair price to pay for a 2010 Yaris?? The best quote i had so far is $17200 AUD (including floor mats and tinted windows). Is this a good price?

Also any tips on how to bargain??

Well base price is 15990 driveaway for a 5door manual 1.3L so 17200 including Auto, tinted windows and floor mats doesn't sound like a bad price to me.

Maybe try for extended warranty? If it doesn't come with that already.

I think that's a good price. Most on Carsales are above that too.
I got mine with 3 doors and just white for like $18600 back in 07. damn sales >.<

Mosman Toyota had a sale a cpl months ago and currently have drive away $15990 + 6 yrs warranty (normal 3 yr) + fixed price servicing for 6 yrs. I got mine with tint, reverse sensors and mats & the aforementioned for less than $16500 so it can be done. I drove past the other day and they still have it.

It was more expensive to buy new but we were getting the extra's ie warranty and fixed price servicing that you dont get with a second hand car.

As for what you want: I wanted tint and i looked up how much it would be to get it elsewhere (turns out $280 down the road) so i told them to put tint on it for $280 and they had a sale....the other extras where part of a special they had the week before.

Be firm & confident, they smell fear.
Decide what you want and ask for it until you get it. But consider how fair your request is ($$ value of what your asking as an 'inclusion). Plus, my rule is there is no harm in asking. They can only say no, but they COULD say yes.

My boyfriend let me do the negotiating cause im good at it ;)

Go see 'Indy' at Mosman he's great :)

Don't tell the dealer your story. Don't let them know that you need a car soon. Shop around. Go to more than one dealer. Look into 2009 low milage models. Don't get too hung up on one color. Get financing ahead of time. Don't buy extended warranties.

just bought 2010 for son we should have gotten the power package. our has manual windows but what bugs me the most is the side windows are also manual. not to good when you have to reach over to adjust passenger side mirror.

agreed. They smell fear including when your desperate. play dealers off each other that is what they are there for (especially if one has got a sale going, try and get the others to beat it so they get your business). Dont go finance through any dealer as they have fee's and taxes and stuff to get you when you try and pay it out to make money off you. Aus banks are better or credit unions.

We were going to buy a second hand car, but the fact they were offering FREE 6yr warranty, 6yr fixed price servicing and a 5door at 3 door price had us sold on a new one rather than second hand.

why?

i adjusted my mirrors the day i bought it and I haven't done it since. Auto mirrors are a complete waste of money. I don't even know how to do it atm, i'd have to figure it out.

When you have two or three different drivers, it makes a world of difference.

i'd say those other drivers need to buy cars of their own.

but it makes it easier to change them, if you are into that sort of thing.

If you live around Columbus, OH, you can get new 5Dr 2010 Yaris Auto for less than $13,400. It's still in the lot. I was going to test drive it but then I found my blazing blue.
