Another of the "something to look at while I wait for my car to show up" threads. I assume this car is familiar to everyone, but I thought I'd post these pics just to share.

I'm sure it's pretty slow and not really suited to our higher-speed long-distance driving style, but it's still pretty cool. Its mileage is rated at close to 60MPG (imperial gallons)!

EDIT: It makes the Yaris look big, powerful and thirsty!

i think the aygo was the result of a joint venture with renault, and of course, it is only available in europe.

Looks like a great "little" car, perfect for the city. Bit of a "Looker" too, I'd say!

that car oozes of renault styling

why?

The outside looks good, but that console looks like a few people got sick all over it.

I like the Aygo too. It would be a great runabout car. Here are some owner pics.

I think those wheels would good on a Yaris, too.

Aygo was a joint venture between Toyota, Peugeot, and Citroen, so there are 3 similar cars...

Toyota Aygo, Citroen C1, and Peugeot 107, the Aygo the best looking of the bunch imo...

so this joint venture is something like the vibe/matrix then?

if so, do all of the companies build them separately?

as400g33k

Toyota and the PSA Group (which owns Peugeot and Citroen) formed a joint-venture company, TPCA, to create the car. The group has a factory in the Czech Rep. that produces 300,000/year of these cars (100,000 cars for each brand).

I'd probably pick this over a Yaris if I had the choice. I love dinkiness!

What's it got, a 1 liter engine? Or does it simply wind-up?

Well, I personally think it's pretty sweet. I think a lot of people are surprised by how big even the Yaris Liftback is. It's not much smaller than a Matrix when it comes down to it. I'd consider going for an Aygo if they bring it over.

It would be sooo cool if small European cars crossed the Atlantic!! (and we had a few more European car makers!). I don't think I could drive an Aygo where I live, but I can see myself driving it at a big city (LA, NYC, Washington, ETC) and just laugh at the other car owners for their big and gas guzzler things they drive! :D (I'll still do it with the Yaris though ;) )

I love the Aygo...the one I dream of owning is a Apple red 5-door (cause I think they look better on this car) with smoked headlights sort of like the one on the previous page just not modified. I would own this car for city driving (which its intended for anyway) and then keep the ECHO and Yaris (in my dreams) for longer hauls. The Aygo is where the previous gen Yaris left off, since the second gen Yaris got bigger the Aygo is filling that spot. Just imagine the 60mpg!!!

1 liter 3 cylinder i believe :) but look at the soccer video with those drivers doing skoalas and 180s. It's still a tiny yet powerful (power to weight ratio) car.

You might have seen the Top Gear episode featuring Aygos playing soccer. Well, here's a similar soccer match except this time is Toyota Aygos versus Volkswagen Foxes.

That is an awesome video! I saw the soccer opps I mean Football one with the Aygo's but I didn't see the match with the VW...I was rooting for the Aygo! The Fox looked pretty good, they should have really sent that over here, cause the Rabbit although nice doesn't compete well in my opinion, it starts just under 15K and gets horendous gas mileage! Granted the car has a lot of features but doesn't that defeat the purpose of an "economy" car? Not saying you can't have those features its just they should start the car at a lower price point and then offer those features at a higher price point for those who want to pay for it (not force people to pay for it by default).
Anyway it was funny that you can see the wheel covers come off and just about everything else. Maybe instead of crash tests they should do this with the cars to see how they endure a game of football (Soccer)!
I don't care for sports but if this was an official sport of having different small cars compete then I would pay$$$ to see this live!!

It seems like Toyota will be bringing the Aygo over here in '08. I've added tha link to Edmunds' Inside Line section which lists the video. When you click the link, look on the right side of the page and you'll see the ad for the video (couldn't figure out a direct link, sorry).

Looks like a cool little car.

Getting the Aygo would be awesome, and I'll more than likely try to trade in for one. As long as it keeps it 1L engine or something similar, Yaris still uses more gas than I want it to and I baby it. And the more I think about it, its bigger than you think. Its the same size as an xB and the xB holds more people...IDK

I retract my previous statement. Upon further investigation, the 1L has a chaindrive instead of pulley. I'm out.

Actually I don't think its bigger than the xB, and I want to say its on a different platform just because its exclusively for the European market. It was a joint production venture with Citron (sp?) and that other French company I can't spell. The reason it came out in Europe well besides to compete in the supermini market but also the second gen Yaris got bigger and moved up market so this is positioned below it, so I believe its smaller than the Yaris, maybe some demisions are about the same.

From what I understand, the Aygo we will get in the States is going to be an all-new version. The new U.S.-bound Aygo will probably be bigger/more powerful than what is currently being sold in Europe. As with many "world cars", the U.S. usually gets the bigger powerplant offerings due to our driving habits; the current U.S. Yaris is a good example of this situation.

If I had to guess, I'd peg the U.S. Aygo at about ~140-145" overall length and weighing just over a ton. Horsepower maybe around 90-100. MPG ~38 city/45 highway. These are all just guesses; I'm basically "downsizing" the current Yaris.

Ya heard it here first... Anybody else have a guess?

I was referring to the dimensions of the Yaris not the Aygo. And it Citroen and Renault, and I want the Renault Clio sport or the citroen i think it was 207 or some sort...

Opps! Sorry!
Not to start a pissing contest but referring to the post I originally quoted the Yaris is built on a different platform than the xB, but it does have similar drivetrain such as tranny and engine. The xB is based on the older platform in which the previous gen Yaris did ride on, modified of course:biggrin:

I thought it was supposed to be the entry level first time buyer car? Not expensive, well for a new car at least...:iono: Like a cheap supermini for the urbanite? Maybe it depends on where you are in Europe?
