for all those of you whos lowered your liftbacks with Tanabe DF or Teins. was there enough play in or stock cambers to align the wheels?

The only aligment change you can make from the factory is front toe. Plenty of adjustment there.

If you want to adjust front camber, you'll need to order the bolts from Toyota or from SPC. I got the smallest top bolt (12.4mm) from Toyota and that allowed me to get over -2 degree front camber. These will also allow you to go back to -0.5 degree front camber which is closer to factory spec.

For the rear you'll need to use shims to adjust toe and camber. You can use generic camber shims, or you can purchase rings that fit between the hub and the beam made by SPC part# 75800. These allow you to change camber and toe at the same time. I'm running -2 degree camber with close to 0 toe in the rear and my car is VERY low

Front Camber bolts are available at your Toyota parts department for a couple of dollars each. You'll need to order them most likely.

Rear shim for toe and camber alignment is available from SPC, part #75800

he told me i would have to lower the car and bring it to an alignment shop to find out the right size bolt i needed. is this true?

also where can you purchase those shim kits alone. i only see full kits.

03Z33, thanks a mill, i bet this is gonna help hella ppl out.

one more thing... with those dealer bolts, would the alignment be adjustable? or would you be stuck with -1.2deg for the 12.4mm bolts.

it's adjustable because it's floppy.. so anywhere +/- of the slop in the strut

Just like Tamago said, if you get the 12.4's which are the thinnest diameter, you will have the greatest range of adjustment. These should allow you to go all the way from -2 deg front (more then most will need) to 0 degree (less then you will want). So no need to get aligment first, just get the bolts and bring them when you're ready to get the aligment.

The adjustable cam bolts work just as well.

Toyota alignment bolts part numbers are:

90109-15001
90109-15002
90109-15003
90109-15004

Turns out that i didn't need front camber bolts or rear shims with my Tein S-Tech drop. and i gained a lot of camber knowledge after going through it all.
Wait for some REAL camber bolt is my recommendation. true you can go smaller bolts but its going to be able to rock out of place when you hit bumps. GO TEIN if you want the closest to stock ride with the lowest drop.

Yo Tony. PLEASE post some pics of your Tein drop. The only pics I've seen are on the Tein website. It would be awesome to see another example. Thanks!!!

Matt, if you ever saw the Tanabe Down Forms, they look just like those. but with teins you can be sure u have better quality springs and ride. but i will try my best to get those pictures when my wheel spacers come in.

what I think would help a lot of us looking at lowering springs is what springs you used and what alignment and camber issues you ran into......

example with the tanabe df springs I didnt have to adjust the suspension at all.........but with the nf I needed new camber bolts up front and thin shims out back.......

I want an ok drop but dont wanna deal with camer bolts and things like that......

Thanks for the pics! That drop look sweet. It looks a tiny bit lower in the front than the DF's. I guess that makes sense though. The Teins claim to be about a half inch lower in the front than the DF's.

I Apologize for this... big time. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO AN ALIGNMENT SHOP THAT USES A TAPE MEASURE. those guys bull shitted me. i went to good year tires this time and found the truth. you WILL need a shim kit for the rear, and a camber bolt up front. sorry for all those who i mislead.

I purchase some elibachs lowering springs and I'll be putting it in along with some 17" rims. My questions I guess is, where can I get the shim and camber kit needed for my Yaris Sedan? Any ideias?
