As I go round corners / bends at very slow speeds my yaris gives an abnormal noise. It sounds like something dragging. It only happens when I turn the steering and drive slowly. If I drive at an equally slow speed but straight ahead i hear no such noise. What could it be?? Thanks

My '07 Hatch does it when I turn left with stock wheels and tires. i'm thinking the electric steering might be howling for some odd reason.

is it stock springs? my coilovers make stupid sounds when i turn at slow speed (the rubber top cap) get a car of WD40 and spray up into the wheel well and try to get it on the top of the top coil/top of the shock tower and see if that helps, thats what i do and im good for another few weeks.

only do the wd40 thing after checking to ensure no loose plastic is rubbing the tires.

hmm...thanks for your replies, will keep you posted with what happens to it. Actually the noise is a kind of whine I think.

mm...but then, why would it only happen at slow speeds, less than 60 km

my vote is the shock tower. if not maybe the steering shaft. my moms 01 camry has this issue, every 10,000km it needs grease on the universal joint (under the dash)

is the sound only when in a turn or while turing the steering wheel?

yes only at turns to the right. (it's right hand drive)

Took it to the mechanic. Said there are some plates rubbing.
