Enkei Wheels is bringing back its Enkei92, reviving a classic wheel associated with the heydays of import car tuning. The true old school mesh wheel is the latest addition from the Japanese wheel manufacturer. Offering deep lips and aggressive offsets, Enkei promises to bring a new level of excitement to the wheel market.
Staying true to its roots, Enkei will offer the legendary Enkei92 in 15 x 7” ET38 and 15 x 8” ET25 variants with bolt patterns to fit the most popular import applications. All versions of the Enkei92 will come with a deep polished lip and the choice of a silver, black, or gold face with an original retro design center cap. The Enkei92 offers import enthusiasts genuine old school design with superior performance that imitators cannot match.

hhhmmm....depends on the price of course and I would need someone to photochop for me on my car to decide. I have been trying to get Steve over on MI to do one for me on something else however so far that has come up as a bust. I am still feinin' for those headlights!

Gotta say, not a fan. These aren't "yarisy" wheels. Much more the "poke and stretch" idiots over at the stanced VDub crowd.
Props to populating the market with more options though.

1-piece wheels are typically lighter than a 3-piece - there are no fasteners and no replicated flanges. Look at SSR or Rays (or the ever popular RPF1). It is not the number of pieces that determine the weight, it is the quality and type of construction.
The 1-piece Forgelines on my RX-8 are nearly 1lb lighter than the same wheel in a 3-piece.
1 piece wheels that are made to be lightweight, racing wheels, yes. But an old school wheel like the Enkei 92 - most 2 or 3 piece wheels were made with forged barrels/lips which result in lighter weight and more durability. So I'm guessing the original Enkei 92 will be a lot lighter than the re-makes.
I'm no expert, just what I've read on teh interwebz. Also just discouraged they would re-make a legendary wheel but make it a cheaper quality, 1 piece cast. It's like they are Rota'ing themselves. (yes, thats a verb now.)
(Not that the original ones were lightweight at all, 13 lbs. on a 14x6.)

Cast wheel is way to broad of a term. Yes, gravity cast wheels are heavy and weak. But a low pressure cast, high pressure cast or spun cast wheel is suitable for the track. Most of the current Enkei stuff is top notch, and I would argue that what is crap today (as far as wheel tech standards) is better than when that wheel was originally built.
We raced all year on a set of cheap 11lb low pressure cast wheels, no problems. And these were wrapped with a 10.5" wide slick. That is a stress test.
And I have seen just as many SSR forged wheels fail as I have seen cast Rota's. There is always more to the story than a simple failure.
I'm not talking about failures, just forged vs. casting weight-wise. But yes - you know a lot more about it then me. I'm just assuming they didn't build these for being lightweight (same as the originals). Will wait to see a published weight though - looks like they're coming out in March?

March looks correct, and I should have some pricing soon. I'm trying to reserve a few sets, because I know they are going to sell quickly.

Wow, about $160USD per copy, not cheap!
I do like them though, especially the GOLD!
I remember as a teen in the '80s seeing these on a 320i. And now I'm thinking of how perfectly they suited those cars from my youth...
Did'nt the old Trans Am GTAs rock these too?
