hp vs psi

Well what do you think guys? I think that the right thing is talking about ''maximum horsepower'' for an engine component and not ''maximum psi''. I think that talking about an ammount of psi is pointless unless you are talking about a specific turbo.

Yes you're right about the horsepower vs psi is based on the turbo size (among other factors). But the general rule on average is 1psi = 10hp

Yes:smile:and i think that if someone is making 240hp with a T25 (20psi) it is the same thing for the engine if you had 240hp with a t28 (12psi). You have the same peak cylinder pressure during combustion if you make the same power. I think it is horsepower that breaks rods or cracks sleeves right?

No. Horsepower doesn't break rods or pistons. A bad tune or a hickup in a tune giving a spike in the air fuel causing it to run lean will blow your motor.

I do not completely agree with this. it is not only a good tune. the components of a specific engine have a limit in hp i think?

Limits... to some degree yes. I wouldn't run 20psi on stock . Longevity is more of a factor. It really depends on your hp goal.

Just to give you an idea. I am running 8.5psi with 11.1:1 compression on a hybrid gt28r turbo making over 250hp. Stock the motor makes 160hp. I could run 10psi but the egt is getting up there for continual use.
