Hello all. I purchased a used yaris HB and it only came with 1 master key and 1 copy, the keys aren't even chipped, all the car has is the door lock alarm that is triggered every time all of the locks are manually closed.

I was thinking of getting an aftermarket alarm installed or something to protect the car besides "the club" :P

any suggestions?

Get one of those fabric car covers that says 'KIA' across the side of it. That should deter just about anyone!

My thoughts exactly. I have never worried about my Yaris being stolen and never plan on worrying. If someone really does ever steal my car then I can laugh about that for the rest of my life!

Make sure it's a manual transmission - that cuts out 50% of car thieves....

hide valuables. usually people want whats inside, not the car itself.

a couple of grenades or such will deter thieves.

I have installed kill switches on other vehicles before. The car won't start unless a hidden switch in on.

Do we have a DIY on that one yet? Best idea so far.

Just cut the ignition wires at the key cylinder and put your switch there. Same way you add starter kill for a remote start/alarm. So with that, a nice alarm is a great way to make sure the car won't be stolen. You can also add fuel cut-off to the ignition cut-off if you're concerned.

Heh.....more like 90%. Remember the good old days when a manual transmission was standard and the auto was optional? Aaaah, memories.
