I will be buying one with my next pay cheque or a bird that can talk some african type that will go on your finger not sure yet what I want. Or a TRD Exhaust but I doubt it gives any more speed etc so I am avoiding it
Anyways if I do get a game console, which one?
I only want ps3 atm for gran turismo 5 that will be released any day now.

I predict this thread will end badly so I'll get my vote in early before it gets closed...
PS3
- Blu-Ray
- Little Big Planet
- Free Playstation Network
- Playstation Home (also free)
- Playstation Move (which is way cheaper than Kinect but at end of day does same thing)
- Cell processor > Xenos processor
- No red ring of death
- No big bulky goofy ass controller
- Wifi capable and free right out of the box
Those are just a few reasons off the top of my head. And I'd like to point out I'm no fanboy. I'd probably have both if I could afford it but I can't so I bought the best of the two and a POS Wii for my kids.

PS3 it is, halo isn't worth it to me. All about COD and all the comps use wifi in my house so we should have no problem with that on the PS3 thanks guys.
Does anyone have a PS3? What are good games for online on it?

In this day and age one should not even give a rat's ass about Blu-ray...really??? It is all about digital distribution now and anyone that doesn't embrace that needs to get with the program. I currently own over 700 1080p movies. If I had that in Blu-ray that would take up an entire wall or more. I have my collection sitting on my Xtreamer Pro and 2 eTrayz which take up less space than my AV receiver for Pete's sake. I have a few friends that already have the Kinect and they love it. As for the RRoD unless mistaken that issue has been either resolved or greatly reduced with the nanometer process they are using now for the chipset. Sony is one of the largest proponents of closed system designs on the planet. This is evident with their proprietary, well, EVERY DAMNED THING THEY SELL practically. If I was concerned with having motion controlling at all I would much prefer to be 100% untethered. To me both systems have bloated shitty ass controllers for their legacy games. That being said your bottom line will be the video game library that each system carries. Take a very close look at both and make your decision that way. As for paying for your server farm connectivity being something that you might be concerned with...well why make that a factor? Sure the gaming companies charge what some say is high prices however they truly do not understand the costs involved in development of the titles they hold dear, the bandwidth it takes to have server farms available, nor the cost of power/upkeep of said farms. This all being taken into account it should be a nobrainer on whether that will be a factor for you. Why should it matter anyway if you only purchase a few core games each year anyway? If that is the case and you are not buying dozens of games a year then your ROI even when paying for your server side of the house is irrelevant.
I own neither the PS3 nor the 360 personally. Yes, I do own a Wii however it is only used for the franchise titles and I have it home-brewed to play classic NES/SNES/Genesis games on occasion. If I was going to buy either personally it would be the 360 for the Kinect function....I think that there will be a slew of physical fitness titles that will arise which would be my only driving factor. If I want to REALLY game then I do it on my PC which is connected via HDMI to my 56" TV so I can enjoy all of the visual goodness that I want while playing.
Take aways:
1) Title Library stare and compare
2) Decide that if you want to have motion control would you want to have to hold a controller or be 100% untethered
3) Realize that many online functions are available on both
4) Are you willing to continue to waste physical space with physical media and want Blu-ray capabilities and have that be a factor in your decision
prolly too much said, but hey...I like to "talk" and debate

Eh no visuals for me, those cams freak me out. PS3 with the motion kit costs 399.99 here and 299.99 without. Personally I wanna keep the 100 lol and game wise GT5 is huge for me.

^^^^true Jbougie's comment. I am a novice (read just a small tick above beginner) when it comes to anything computer related, and what Fnk said is true. I have found however that the PS3 just works. I had an Xbox at one point. ----original xbox, I used it only for watching dvd's I really didn't like the UI or the functionality at all.
-Forgive me if I'm wrong but wouldn't making the 360 blu-ray compatible mean changing hardware not just software coding?
-I don't see too much depth to the whole virtual gaming (see Virtuaboy of the mid 90's)
the kinect I don't think was researched enough, demo'd at a walmart and it constantly stops in the middle of operations and recalibrates, change in lighting, recalibrate, person moves into view of camera recalibrates, etc. Yes I know you can say it's new tech but it isn't, it's all just motion tracking.
-I don't want to pay another $50 connection fee on top of what I pay a month for my internet already. Or however much it would be month to month.

Unless Microsoft has improved their product a lot, only choice is PS3. In a short amount of time I went through 4 xboxes (2 original / 2 360s) ...just unreliable and noisy junk. Before I gave them one last chance, hoping that the 3rd x360 would be the charm, I bought a PS3.

To be honest the disk drive went out recently on my PS3 with the card reader and PS2 backward compatibility but it was the first model to come out and my kids and I aren't the most caring towards our electronics at times. Also I've sent it in since then and had it fixed and haven't had any problems with it yet.
Also while that one was getting fixed I was having withdrawals and went out and bought one of those slimmer ones and man they are such an improvement in my opinion.

Well, I've only owned 1 xbox and 1 360, never had a problem with either. Sounds like bad luck with crapping out xbox's :P
I don't understand why everyone wants to draw a line on which console is better. Why? I love my 360, but i also love my buds PS3. Graphically they are identical. They play the same. The controls are similar.
Buy the PS3 because u feel like it. Not because the genious posters here say to.

They're both good systems. I got a 360 because they're cheaper, easy and cheap to fix if anything goes wrong, and because my friends all have 360's (to play Xbox Live together.)

I had a fat PS3 80GB with BC and loved it. Unfortunately it started overheating and locking up. I blew it out with compressed air but still no joy. As it was out of warranty, Sony told me they'd sell me a slim model for retail price + shipping to fix it. I was upset. I still went to gamestop and bought a new slim for less than retail by trading my 30+ PS2 games with it. I still love the PS3, and love my slim WAY MORE even without the backwards compatibility, just wish Sony would have treated me a little better about my old one. The slim is so much more quiet, less heat, and less electricity. It also has not locked up and my controllers all work with it unlike my old fatty.

If you've never had problems with your 1 360, sounds like a case of very good luck...just waaaaay too many ring of death cases over the years to be just a little bit of isolated bad luck. Loved the 360 titles, hated the console.

Well I can't really give an honest opinion, since I have an Xbox, Xbox 360, PS1, PS2 and PS3. I like each one for what they can do. The one thing I do hate about the 360 is you have to have the gold subscription to do Netflix instant streaming, where as on the PS3, its free. Now I don't do online gaming so that whole feature I don't really care about, but it is free on the PS3, but I guess someone could always say "you get what you pay for". There are game titles I like that are exclusive to either the 360 or the PS3(Halo and GT for example). I have had both the 360 and PS3 for about 2 years now and neither one I have had any problems arise.

Kevin, no one asked you who do you play with? I have a 360 but don't care either way. What brought me onto the side of the box is that most of the people I know were on the xbox. I don't like playing by myself so it made sense to go with the xbox.
Yes, I've gone through a couple of xboxes myself but it's not all the inconvenience the net says it is. The new slim has pretty much solved the over-heating issues. If you see a complaint these days about overheating, look at the dates and if the dated response is current, see what box they are complaining about. Do your research.
Figure out what kind of gamer you are and head in that direction. I agree with fnkgrv's first post about the upkeep and what not. I say the plus and minus of both systems put them on even footing these days.
Good luck.

I'm an owner of 2 systems now. The fat PS3 and a new 4GB x360...hope 4GB is enough. The x360 will just be a backup to play the few exclusive games not offered for the PS3.
