Well, I went to the Toyota 'Stealership' today to find out about doing the Audio Controls on my steering wheel - the button system and everything is relatively cheap, but they won't sell me the Horn Button / Cover separate! They say i must buy it with the Airbag, at US$1,800!

Anybody know if it might be better to just cut the existing steering wheel cover? I mean, the buttons mount to the sides of the cover, might it be easier to cut off those parts on the steering wheel cover so the buttons fit?

Can't really justify spending that much just for audio controls, but it would look seriously sweet in my RS!

Buy a used airbag from a JDM Vitz on yahoo auctions, it'll cost you between $100-200...That's what I did, twice on my Canadian hatch...

You'll also need a JDM spiral cable for G-Book/Steering Audio equipped Vitz...

Cheers

My car is a 2007 Vitz RS, am i correct to assume the Spiral would be the correct one already?

Also, i was hoping to get the controls from the UK spec as i don't want the phone controls.. The phone control buttons aren't compatible with the pioneer headunit i want to connect the audio controls to.. the UK spec has the audio controls on the left in silver and no buttons on the right, just a silver 'dummy piece'....

I just compared the Part Numbers for the JDM RS and the UK-Spec TS... Everything seems the same so i think the button system will all be OK. Only thing i need to work out how to do is the steering wheel cover. Anyone got any thoughts or ideas or suggestions? I was thinking maybe i could cut the side pieces off the old steering wheel cover? It seems the airbag is in the centre of the cover and the sides are just add-ons. coz there are also some lines in the design that would make a guide for when cutting...
