This video is taken during a Yaris One Make Race before Japan SuperGT race in Malaysia Sepang F1 Circuit.

It is a one make race spec thus engine is stock, only using 4.7Final Drive and TRD Spring and absorber, Toyo T1R 15" tires, that all

Driver is one of my customer who race in Thailand

enjoy.

Cool video. Wow, the JDM gear box must have a lot tighter (shorter) gear ratios than we get in the states. He is going into 5th gear at 144kph (about 90mph). We have the same final drive in our car and we don't need 5th until 118mph.

I wonder if those parts will fit in a C50.

Or is that a 6spd?

jason, i see what you mean about the gears. Looks like he is shifting up into 5th and down into 2nd (3 shifts) in the upper right insert vid.

That pink yaris killed his lap time coming out of that corner @1:24. That and the off mentioned before. Shouldn't have the pink yaris let him pass during the corner rather than after? (I know nothing about proper race etiquette).

It's definitely not a 6 speed as 3rd gear is bouncing off the limiter at 108km/h and 4th at about 135km/h.

I love my short gears

we *do* have shorter final drives here, I think equivalent to the ones you guys have in the xA / 1st gen xB

^ yeah but Jason has the final drive from an xB already, so I'm not sure if the gears must also be different?

I think I figured out why he is shifting up a gear so much earlier than I have to... Stock rev limiter (duh). Take off the extra 800rpm or so that I am spinning and things line up. How quickly you forget what a Yaris is like when it cant rev.

My handy gear ratio calculator puts me shifting from 4-5 at 118mph, to be just short of the limiter.
With a 4.3 final drive and stock limiter you should be able to see about 106mph before the shift to 5th.

Now I see the first post saying a 4.7 final drive... Well it makes more sense, that would only get you to about 97mph before needing 5th - the 90mph shift to 5th in the video would be at 6000rpm.

*these numbers all assume a C50 trans with a 23" tall tire.
