Okay i have a KDC-X794 headunit and a Hifonics BXI-2010d which is asking for a mono signal to the subs. It says to run a Y adapter from one of the channels of the headunit to send a mono signal to the amp. I've skimmed over my user manual on the headunit and it doesn't say which channel " left or right " it recommends to kick a mono signal from..So it shouldn't matter correct ?

Your right, left or right channel will work. It doesnt matter which one you use.

A question i just though of also is if you're head unit pushes 4 v out the pre out then does it drop it to 2V when you connect it to the amp, or it's a mono so it doesn't drop ? My fix is going to be a Knu Konceptz Krystal Cable Subwoofer RCA 4 Meter http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KRY1.4M

And this Y splitter right at the amps http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KRY-1F2M

I just looked up the specs for both the KDC-X794 headunit and a Hifonics BXI-2010d. All you will need is a 2 channel rca cable. (No Y splitter needed) Your stereo has a mono subwoofer out which consists of two rca plugs. The mono block amp also has an input of 2 rca plugs.

Order this: http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KARSS2.6M.

This is the 6 meter/ 18 foot cable. depending how you route the wire you could use the shorter one. As for me, all my installs i've done I always use the 18 footer to be on the safe side.

BTW there is no voltage drop if you use a Y splitter. You will have 4 volts coming out of each channel, but you dont have to worry about this in your setup.

Hope this helps

This is what Kenwood had to say ...

Thank you for contacting Kenwood USA Corporation. We value you as a Kenwood customer and appreciate the opportunity to be of assistance.

I understand you are inquiring on the best option for outputting a signal for a Mono amp.

The selection of R/L channel would be the same type of signal from the Head unit to your amp.

Please feel free to contact us again with any additional questions.
