i would use a relay personally.. esp if it came with one.. basicly relays allow you to use less current to switch it on but use full battery power to make the most noise possible out of that horn. if you wire it up straight from your battery, to ur switch to your horn and then ground, you might melt the switch probably and maybe a wire.. relays are just safer and more reliable

Hella's website shows them as drawing 12A (which seems to be typical for most of Hella's horns), so you would need the relay, as the stock horn driving circuit is only rated for 10A.

you answered your own questions...
the hella is higher rated and will blow the fuse if it draws full current. and if the fuse is there to protect the circuit from more than 10 amps...then the wires are rated at 10 amps as well...and so on. so, if you put a 15a fuse in there you'll likely cause problems.

That was my answer to his question...

I just purchased a set of Hella Supertones and decided to change the front from Red to Green. I am planning on installing this weekend, but the instructions that were sent with the horns is somewhat confusing. It has several ways to hookup with relay depending if the horn is hooked up positively or negatively. I am not sure which way I should hook them up. I definitely want to hook up with relay as this is safest way. Can anyone tell me how they hooked them up. Also, Is is necessary to remove the whole front bumper to put these horns in. Here is a pic of one of the horns that I just painted.
Sorry if pic comes out to big not sure how to resize.
I want it, my air horn doesn't work anymore, it sounds like a dying duck whenever I honk....its pathetic.
