There was a bunch of crap in the way last time I went though.

thanks, its getting there.. rear bumper going on later this week, then ill take pictures of the (gap) the 06-08 has on the 09+ tail lights, then ill order the JDM RS tail lights from cali
new camera is AWESOME.. definitly more pictures to come
hey sav912, u need to check out buccaneerregion.com, we do autocross at hutchinson island in the pit area. next test n tune is january 29th, then the first event of the year is the following sunday, try to get there around 830am, registration closes at 930am.
the track isnt completely abandoned. its actually owned by the georgia ports authority and they had a classic car/fiat race a couple months ago. and earlier in the year they had a porshe race for the new 2010s. but thier is no weekly or monthy events.. but only licensed organizations i think can actually use the FULL track. we always got roebling =)

no, sav912 was right, its on hutchinson island.. roebling road is a very busy and very strict track to get on even on thier off days.

12-29-2010, 12:27 AM
Yeah. I know they still do some stuff there, but the whole course being open is an extreme rarity, hence the 'abandoned' idea Hutchinson gets labeled with a lot. Robeling Road is such a pain in the ass that I haven't bothered with it. They'll throw you out for sneezing improperly while driving.
Thanks a ton for the info on the Bucaneer Region stuff! I'll definitely have to look into that. Probably won't make it out to participate at the January event, but I would definitely like to show up and shoot some pictures. Also, let me know how the gap and JDM RS tails work out with your car. I wanted to order a set and then remembered the body differences for our cars and how much it sucks.
Order of business for now is to get my car dropped and finish the sound system. I've got components in the front doors but they're still on the stock headunit and that's just unacceptable.

definitly. ill make sure ill post the pics. u should definitly come out january even if you dont register, its free to watch. if you need help with ur suspension ill gladly come by and help u out if needed. i just did mine a month ago. coilovers actually, not lowering springs. but the rears are way too easy.
i hear u on that.. i havent decided yet if i wanna update my audio system yet. i feel its a bit too much weight added on with the larger magnets on each door. also, i feel why spend 500 on a sound system when i can use that to buy a exhaust, lsd, front bumper, MI hood or save towards a turbo. lol. but good luck dude.
SAV912
12-29-2010, 12:52 PM
Haha yeah, I didn't realize the weight difference until after I pulled the door cards off. The stock speakers are feathers! Had I known that, I definitely would've started on the power path first with an intake/exhaust setup. That said, I'll probably be chucking the spare and some other things to counter the weight gain.
I'll keep the suspension offer in mind too. Thanks.

yea, well, You know how they say "pictures don't look at good as it does in person".... This would be exact opposite. If you saw it in person, you could see all the gaps, cracks and parts where it wasn't filled in with bondo or fiberglass. I will settle for now.

Well, I hit a dead.... something... racoon, armadillo, possum.
Was 5am in the morning and on the interstate, wasn't tail gating but was behind another car with the cruise control on..
Saw dead animal appear behind the car in front of me at the last second. No time to dodge fast enough. I bit down as hard as I could. Made a stupid face as I watched it dissappear under the bonnet.
I listened for noise. I could hear the bones breaking when it slammed in the middle of my front bumper. Then I realized, those were not bones, that was my fiberglass bumper being caved and cracking.
Soon after, I heard that son of a monkey bounce around my under carriage like a pin ball machine. After all the noise left and was in silence I tried to imagine the damage I will see when I pull over at the next available stop.
Shoulders slumped and with pure anger for all animals that find their way between 2 solid white lines, I gripped the steering wheel, knuckles whiter than a sheet of paper, trying to pull the damn thing off. Then I screamed, cursing nature for doing this to me again.
pictures will come when I get home.

Bummer. Are you gonna go back with the same style bumper cover? or try something different?
A coyote busted my stock bumper cover/lower grill. I bet he doesn't try that again.
ilikerice
08-22-2013, 06:40 PM
Not sure. I will have to just run with this until I can afford a new bumper.
I am really unhappy with the quality of this one. The amount of rework that needed to be done on it from the body shop was insane. So many imperfections in the fiberglass. After driving it for a week, it already started cracking on both sides in front of the wheels. The tabs on the upper radiator support bracket doesn't even reach far enough back to drill a hole to line up. Extra brackets had to be made to extend to hold it up in the middle.
The shop I went to, to get it fixed from the deer accident, said that this bumper was abnormally thin. Not very thick at all. I thought he was just trying to get more labor money out of me. He was right when I found the High stress areas beginning to crack.
I took it to another guy who was gonna do it on the side for real cheap and even he said there was not much he could do other than reinforce the entire bumper again from the back. He said it was too thin to even sand down in a few spots. He used a flexible filler that is sandable. I don't know what its called but he showed me this cocking gun with a 2 part compound that he spreads on. Alot stronger than fiberglass but a bit more heavy. I said anything to keep it from cracking.
Held up so far. Didnt do the bottom of the bumper obviously.
I would like to find something for my actual year of my car so I dont have to swap out brackets and support brackets to change out my headlights to fit the bumper.
I don't know yet. Just angry right now
dang man. So sorry to hear these animals have it out for you. Is you hood open in the last pic or did the bumper also get pulled down some?
ilikerice
08-23-2013, 01:42 PM
No. That's the way this hood is designed. Nasty gap at the headlights. Flush in the middle. Prob gonna sell it and go back to OEM. I'd trade it straight up in a heart beat.
yea man time to clean her up and go subtle, then you can spend money on boost or some more auto x tires lol
ilikerice
08-23-2013, 07:10 PM
I don't like being subtle.
I have decided I will probably scrap this one out or sell it for super cheap and go with the Diablo front bumper to match my sides and rear. I think it would look better.
UNLESS I can find a polyurethane aftermarket front bumper somewhere. That would be great. Fiberglass has not been my friend lately.
Not bad, I just dont like when they over do the molding and it looks like a heap of cheap plastic just hanging around and a lot of those full bumper kits look that way to me
ilikerice
08-23-2013, 10:34 PM
YEA! WELL YOU'RE A HEAP OF CHEAP PLASTIC. AND I DON'T LIKE YOUR FACE!
haha.. just kidding.. not really.. maybe just a bit.. actually not at all..
hehe
I see your point though. My personal opinion is that the stock bumpers look too rounded at the bottom. I like the flow of the bumper and wheels with body kits. looks more flush and low to the ground.

08-24-2013, 02:45 PM
wow, all the troubles, sorry about that!
No. That's the way this hood is designed. Nasty gap at the headlights. Flush in the middle.
It's not designed that way. Google "micro image vented hood yaris" and you'll see several other installs showing that it's flush all around. That one is seriously warped somehow.
ilikerice
08-27-2013, 09:44 AM
I guess mine was the beta hood. HAHA..
Its probably a combination of alot of things actually. The bumper tabs that are suppose to connect to the headlights do not reach, so the bumper near the headlights doesn't match either. Alot of work needs to be done.
Also Garm, do you still have the JDM (shortened) bumper reinforcement bar in stock or at least can get them when prepaid?
To top off it all off. My Sparco seat finally caved in on me when I went to get in yesterday. The bottom of the seat fell thru, the support that holds the cusion in place. So I had to drive home with my ass almost on the the floor.
Got home and put my original seat back in.. makes my car feel like crap now. I never noticed how much I untilize the bucket seat until I got in my OEM seat. Using different muscles to keep me from sliding around. Weird.
So close to just turning this into my beater Daily Driver and revert everything back to stock.
SAV912
09-24-2013, 11:32 PM
Aw man. Dude that sucks, esp about the deer. Did it take out the headlight from when we swapped? I see you have stockers back on there.
Also, you're not going back to stock. You're better than that and you're like me. We can't leave shit alone. XD

09-25-2013, 12:16 PM
LOL, thanks C.
Yea, Just the Passenger side headlamp got messed up. All the clips are broken and the housing that held the projecor broke so it rattles inside the headlamp.
You are right though. I can't go back to stock. lol.
On another note. For partial payment for rebuilding a miata motor for a friend, he got me an OEM hood off ebay. I put it on last week and it sits flush with the bumper and the headlamps. So the vented hood I got was not made to fit flush with a stock bumper. I will have pictures later today or this weekend.
You are right though. I can't go back to stock. lol.
Such a relief to hear!

^what he said. But I run 15" wheels. My rota GT3 are Et 40 with a 225/45 Hankook R-S3 as my track/autocross tires.
The ones you see are the Konig Candy which have a ET 30. I run 195/55 on those and any cheap tire I can find with a high tread wear rating.

So, I did a track event at Roebling Road Raceway last friday via Hooked on Driving. There were alot of cars out.
I was in a beginner class because the last time I did a track event was 2 years ago, But I got signed off for solo at the end of the day.
I went easy the first half of the day because my coach was stuck in the stock seat and was holding on to whatever he could get his hands on. He was really impressed on how the car handles. With a track that has 9 turns and 2 straights , well the straight between 8 & 9 isn't that long, I was able to keep up with the corvette's and Ferrari's.
There was a McLaren in the beginner class also. I was able to keep up with him in the turns also but that last straight he was already braking by the time I got to the staring line. I would catch him at turn 5 and stay on his bumper. After 2 laps of that he finally gave me the point by. I don't think he was pushing it that hard in the turns. I think he would have had a heart attack if he went off the track at any point.
There are a total of 131 pictures but most are repetitive. So I just picked out my favorites. The shots of me taking a left is at turn 3 and the ones I am just coming from a right turn going into a left is from turn 4 to turn 5.

no plans. Body need to be repaired again. Probably next body kit I do I will do a color change. I am liking orange /w silver or gunmetal wheels. Next on the list is motor. Turbo with standalone. Or LSD with xB final drive with lightened flywheel and better clutch... haven't decided which I wanna do first. Both are about the same price. Bit more for the turbo because of standalone. Need a back up 1nz motor first.
Track days like this are not alot of money. ranges between 250-300 for an all day event. No need for roll cage or fire extinguishing system. just a Snell 05+ helmet.

Got the 1zz throttle body in. After install, did the high/low up/down for about a minute. Let it do that til it evened out. Idles fine except on cold start up. Will Idle up to 2800 rpm's when started up but eventually drops to 700 when it reaches operating temperature. I am sure this is normal and it doesn't bother me one bit. Just letting the info out there.
Next weekend, I will get my nitto mid pipe with wideband installed. Having issues trying to hook up my A pillar gauge pod. It isn't fitting right. I may go another route and just install pods on my dash. I didn't want to drill holes in my dash, but may have to.

Installing the wideband sensor. Where are you guys leading the wire into the cockpit from the engine bay. Was thinking about drilling a large hold and using a grommet like the 2nd O2 sensor has but needs to be bigger for the connector to go through. Is there another place you guys use?

So i was at the TireRack Dixie solo regionals this weekend and I had a blast. Fierce competition.
Will be selling a few Items here shortly, I will post up in the For Sale thread also when i get all my pictures together and items off the car and ready to ship.
First off, If anyone is interested in my body kit (front, rear and sides skirts), feel free to make an offer. I will more than happy to meet someone here in the SouthEast area to save on shipping. If you want the cheapest form of shipping, I can do GreyHound which I believe is somewhere between $80-$100. So whatever you offer, add this to shipping. I will get exact quote when I can.
Items that will also be up for sale but I haven't priced them or haven't gottem a picture up yet.
-1zz throttle body
-nitto mid pipe (2pc) comes with anti-fouler for O2 sensor and a bung welded for Wideband sensor. Had on my car for 2 months, no codes.
-HID kit with halo rings. still in headlamp assembly currently but the headlamp assembly is broken. They were working fine after the accedent but I believe the mechanic touched the bulb on one of them when they were repairing my car. I will confirm this by swapping bulbs with each other. just haven't gotten around to it.
-(POSSIBLY) 23mm Ultra Racing rear sway bar, I may keep this. I don't know if this is just dead weight yet.
-3 gauge pod cover for the A pillar (black)
more stuff to come, will go through my stuff later this week. PM me an offer if you want, i may accept. Until i get my prices down and pictures up, this is just a rough draft.
Dang why are you selling?

@phil
selling (or tossing) the body kit because I am tired of dealing with this fiberglass bumper. After the trip to Knocksville, it has so many chips in the paint and fiberglass that it isn't worth dealing with. I do not like body work... If there is someone out there that enjoys fiberglass work, by all means, you can have this kit, either pick it up or pay for shipping.
The 1zz TB is because i wanna go standalone, and if I go standalone, I will go with the cable TB. And I cant use the 1zz TB in STF class, so I have no real use for it now. If there is someone out there who is running boost on a piggy back, this would be a nice add on.
I now have 3 sets of headlights, 07-08 and 09-11 are oem.. the HID ones are broken from the accedent. i don't feel like buying another set of projector headlights.
I can't use the Nitto mid pipe til I get the turbo. So, its just collecting dust, which I don't mind and it will keep collecting dust until I sell it or I have a use for it.
I did good at the National Tour in Dixie. happy with my results. Being only 2 cars were faster, but 4 drivers beat me. The Mazda2 is a fast car if its prepped correctly. The mini cooper is just a better car all around out the box. And with the add ons allowed in STF, its just a great car. The drivers of that mini were VERY experienced.
I am glad I was able to bring home a trophy and put a Yaris on the podium.

I finally got my medal for coming in 5th at Dixie Solo Nationals a month ago. Its pretty big, I wonder what the 1st place looked like.
On that note, I have decided to keep the yaris. I will be boosting it eventually. But I would like to get the LSD first. Run FSP for a while and then SMF.
I would like to buy a transmission that already has the LSD in it, because I will be buying another trans anyways if I get the Kaaz from MicroImage. That is the current plan so far.
Wife talked me into keeping the yaris and stop changing my mind on different projects... Someti... Most of the time she is right...
SO, next on the to do list:
-Extended lug studs
-Wire up my gauges
-corner balance the car
-Better brake pads and SS lines (haven't decided yet on the pads)
-Harness bar and harness.
-Lighter battery (brail maybe? still looking at options)
-Trying to reduce weight without taking out the back seat and obvious interior peices
Somewhat in that order, depending on if I catch a good deal on something.
Congrats man!
The plans sound like that thing will be pretty beastly. Good luck

Anyways, I still need a Water Temp gauge.. Oil pressure sensor for my Oil Pressure gauge, and the sandwich adapter.

Looks like Ironman cosplay?
On a car-related note, did you ever figure out where to wire the wideband O2 sensor? I'm thinking that I'll run mine through the firewall by the passenger strut tower. I've got the tools to remove the pins and/or re-crimp them on the gauge side. I'm concerned about salt damage to the external connector, but it seems to be a sealed OEM-style. I can't wait to move somewhere that doesn't salt their roads.

Yes, I finally got my gauges installed. I ended up going down the drivers fender and cut a small slit in the rubber grommet where harness goes from the door to the body frame (mirrors, locks, window wires). THen just ran them and I connected it to the ignition switch connector. I will have pictures up in a bit later.

Here is my gauge pod with gauges. I only have my A/F gauge working. The other 2 are oil pressure gauges but are not hooked up. Just place holders because its a real eye sore with open pods right in my face. Color looks pretty dead on. Although the top doesn't quite sit flush with the OE panel. It will do.

Cool gauges! Did you use fiberglass over the OEM panel to make the A pillar pods?

No.
I bought them off a member here. It's plastic. Nothing special. I got the paint from CTscott. I only used like an ounce. Got so much more left over.

Time for an update
Well, finished up this season in STF in 2nd place overall Pax. I wish I did more National events, only did 1 this year. Going to hang up the STF magnets and start running SMF from now on. Gonna try and spank some B series Civics and Integra's that show up, haha..
Just finished putting my 1zz throttle body back on and the Nitto Mid Pipe, which I feel is a bit small, but it will do. Also wired up the CamCom VVTi controller. Started it up and running smooth. Happy about that. Now I just need to get it tuned on a Dyno before running it. Need to find someone who is willing to tune with this.
Hood is being repainted and I think I will start repairing the bumpers and side skirts. Have a lot of paint chips and damage from autocrossing and driving to Kentucky and back. Having 2 car garage is nice also.

Ooh that's. Supr tiny battery you got. Interested in the dyno stats when you get it done.

HAHA, I know. I would like to thank MicroImage for that. I could have spent more for the tie down, but i wanted to see how it fit first. I HATED having a 30 lb battery that was bigger than my engine. As soon as my OEM one started acting up, that was my excuse to spend the extra on this Ballistics 3 lb one.
I will get dyno info as soon as I get it.
I do however need some who has a CamCom to give me thier VVTI specs so I can get a good base read. The tunner said it would be cheaper to adjust if I had a base as close to best performance as possible for less trial N error. Could cut down on per hour cost in half

Solo Nationals are coming up again at Dixie Region in Adel/Cecil Georgia. Trying to prep the car. Currently my car is SMF, but trying to get it back to STF before nationals. Still in need of a tune for my CamCom, but that will have to wait til after Nationals.
Current issue: Tires
Currently have Toyo R1R (140tw) and Hankook RS3 in the back (200tw)
My R1R need to be replaced because new rules state min 200 treadwear starts this year. The probem lies, Toyo is the only ones who have a tire size in 225. Hankook only has 195, Azenis 615K in 205, Rivals in 205, RE11 in 205. I would really like to run all the same tires around... I may just get the R1R again...

Sooo.. been doing some research.. and a long time ago, I was told the wrong thing. Since then, I have been telling people the wrong thing. Come to find out, that my spoiler is not from the S model, but a dealer added part. This makes me very sad because I really love my spoiler and do not want to give it up. At local autocross events this will not be a problem. If i decided to go to another national event though.. I will be obligated to take it off, or risk getting protested and getting all my runs DNF'ed.
Ugh..

Long time I haven't updated.. So 2015 has been up and down. Put the yaris on the back burner trying to finish my boba fett. Look here for details and pictures http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=55435
I was't able to go to Nationals last year because of unexpected financial things that happen. I am going to try to go 2016 though, most definitely. I feel this will be the year of the Yaris. I will try to focus more time on it and work extra hard to get my driving skills back up.
I was trying out these rims off my friends crx just to see how some gold 16" wheels would look. 16x8 with a 25 offset. I would need more low to support these beauties though.

This is probably going to be the last year of the yaris.. I just acquired a 240sx S14 shell and will be collecting parts for it this year.
I will be going to Dixie Championship Tour next month for SCCA Autocross. If I manage a podium position (1st, 2nd, 3rd), I will go to the National Championship at Lincoln, NE in September. If I can get a podium position there, I will continue with the Yaris in STF.
If I lose at Dixie or National, whichever comes first, I will revert the yaris back to stock and start putting my money into the S14 in SM class and just have fun with it.
I love my yaris, and it is fun, but in the back of my mind, I have always just looked at it with a sad thought... it just doesn't have that fast car look... Sits too high, headlights are too large, the wheels are too small for its body... Yes, all these things can change with some money but it will take away from the performance of the car and competitiveness.
With that said, I will still keep it but will only be my work commute car. I will still be around to give advice and poke fun at others.

Any chance you'd sell the TRDSparks.com wing?
