I have your "old" ones on my car. I like the thicker, tougher design much better...

The new ones look much sleeker. Plus they are not stuck to the car with adhesive Tape (which was a pain in the a to remove). weatherTech knows what they are doing. And honestly they are quieter while driving, no more whoosh noise at freeway speeds. And about the snow, the photos were takin on Christmas day before the snow rolled in. All in all I am pleased with the look, IMHO the old ones just look tacky.

@ henry33 while the weathe is to cold to drive with the window all the way down I usually drive with my window cracked and it is definantly quieter.
@ klink10. The brand is weatherTech. They have several pages of adverts in Car & Driver. They also make floor mats, cargo mats and such. And since they were a gift for Christmas unfortunatly I don't know how much they were.
@ ilikerice. I do believe that is the main purpose for them. I don't smoke cigarettes but I think that's what they are designed for. Cracking the window in the rain and not getting wet.

Definitely look better than the old ones! Almost asked for a set of these for Xmas myself.
