i think they look awesome, and the new elantra with the 1.8L has a hwy mpg of 40, so this 1.6L should have a hwy epa of at least 42. wow.
Ah gotcha. Still will never buy a Hyundai after the failure of my brand new 07 Accent.

It is a 2012.
I think it looks really good, however the taillights are a bit awkward.

Gotcha. The 2011 is the same body style as the 2007 I had then.

I know that they are better than they use to be. But I don't think that I will ever buy one.

Oddly enough, even the current Accent has been rated one of the most reliable cars you can buy right alongside the Yaris. And since this generation debuted about 4 years ago, Hyundai has greatly improved even that much more. So this new one should be outstanding.
I didn't like the 2007 as it just felt "cheap". It had no reliability issues, was just not a car enthusiast's car. It also only got around 30 MPG highway which did not suit my commute well.

i think all the car companies should get together and make their hatchs almost identical in appearance. that would be awesome.
btw, that was meant to be sardonic.

Dude every car "has been rated one of the most reliable" at least once. Especially with bought out consumer reports. The difference between toyota and hyundai is toyota constantly tops EVERY list. Do some real research and you'll realize your just buying in to bought out lists. Someone just posted a dutch rating system on here and the first hyundai was in like the 40s.

Sounded more sarcastic than sardonic, but then I didn't hear the tone of voice.

I'm still going with sardonic. I could be wrong though. Frankly, it's hard for me to tell the two apart. However that should be "hatches" not hatchs. Don't know what I was thinking.
Back on topic though... seriously, they are all starting to look too much alike. I can tell them apart but I doubt the average onlooker can. Mostly I'm just disappointed in the new Yaris.

its believable if the 6th gear is low for highway cruising, AND the new engine is direct-injected which increases economy and efficiency

It's highly unlikely it will earn an EPA (US) rating of 50mpg. That figure is a preliminary Hyundai figure using metric numbers. Considering the current best is 40 MPG in this segment, 50 is nearly unachievable from a standard non hybrid/diesel (at least now).

You mean HIGH 6th gear. Yeah, it would have to be crazy high to get even 45mpg. Resulting in absolutely no torque in high gear.

Unfortunately even the much bigger 200hp Sonata is rated at 35 mpg which is only 1 mpg less than the Yaris. Hyundai has direct injected engines which make all the difference. The Yaris is old technology in comparison. Watch out Toyota and Honda, those Koreans are really amazing. My daily driver is a hyundai. here is the stock sound system only found in 1 other car, the Rolls Royce Phantom. http://hyundai.lexicon.com/system.aspx

The new Accent officially gets 40 MPG highway while also boasting class leading HP - 138. 138 HP in a small car like this is going to be really quick.
The all-new fourth-generation 2012 Hyundai Accent makes its debut at the New York Auto Show, wearing the automaker's fresh (and now-familiar) "Fluidic Sculpture" attire. Offered in both sedan and five-door body styles, the subcompact promises best-in-class fuel economy and power, says Hyundai.
Under the hood is an all-new 1.6-liter direct-injected "Gamma" four-cylinder engine, rated at 138 horsepower. Power is sent to the front wheels through a standard six-speed manual or an optional six-speed automatic. Hyundai is proud of the Accent's EPA fuel economy ratings, as its newest vehicle delivers best-in-class fuel economy of 30 miles per gallon (city) and 40 mpg (highway), besting both the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris.
While the vehicle has been completely redesigned, with new technology and more safety features (six airbags and standard VSM, ESC, TCS, ABS, BA and EBD), the automaker has held pricing from the prior generation. The entry-level Accent GLS (6MT) will start at $12,445 with the range-topping Accent SE (6AT) starting at $16,795. The 2012 Accent rolls into dealerships this summer.
