I am thinking about staying at the Hampton Inn in Smyrna, which is about 11 miles from the Speedway. I have a lot of Hilton points from business travel, so I always look for the Hilton chain hotels.

Yeah they are plenty close around the airport. I have always stayed on the East side of Nashville. I always like the more quiet places, so you don't get the "YEAH YEAH IA!!!" drunks running down the hotel hallway.

The hotels around the airport are close enough and I can caravan with anyone staying in the nashville area.
The drury inn near the nashville airport is really nice, plus they have that 5:30 kickback with 3 three alcoholic drinks and finger food/hot food all you can eat woooo!

So ... I regained custody of my dog (my lil mini dachshund) who I had lost in my divorce, and due to him being disabled - unless I can find a dogsitter that I trust, and/or a hotel that won't charge me an arm and a leg ... I won't be making it. So I have to change my status to "maybe"

Do you bring them to a business, or is it someone you know? I have tried to find places locally, but aren't having much luck. The vet office can take them, but they just keep them in the kennel at night and I don't want him to sit in a cold kennel :(

We used to board them at the vet (people at the vet loved our puppies so they got to run loose in the office).
That got expensive tho. Now my Wifes best friend comes over 3-4 times a day and lets them out. Sometimes she even spends the night.

Ah, this is my first year so I wasn't sure what to expect. Having food available was nice for sure, it was just pricey. Something that would be kinda nice (IMO) would be a roving vendor cart with the stickers, shirts, drinks, etc. on it. The vendor area was pretty packed most of the day. If they just had a couple of golf carts roaming around with the IA gear and some water or something I feel like that would do pretty well and would be convenient.

Sure...how about having a way for those that had already entered be able to reenter with an "express" lane during peak times for people just coming in and paying? When you spent an hour in the line to get in it is a bit of a bummer when you have to spend possibly just as much time to regain entry. Also agree with Mason on the cart idea...that would be pretty cool and would most likely net a nice bump in profit. If they wanted to deal with it I am willing to bet they could also rent out those shade tents to folks too. Lastly maybe having a fuel tanker might be a cool idea? That one could be a stretch, but it is miles away to the closest gas station...at least that we could find. And oh yeah, lastly if they could maybe get the state troopers to not be douches and speed trap people coming in over the hill just before the exit on 840 that would be pleasant...just sayin.

The turnout gets bigger every year for the Yarii. I should have sent my easy up tent with Orlando so you all could of had some shade. I will be there next year if the dates don't conflict with other events. Maybe next year I can compete in the racing portion.

The turnout gets bigger every year for the Yarii. I should have sent my easy up tent with Orlando so you all could of had some shade. I will be there next year if the dates don't conflict with other events. Maybe next year I can compete in the racing portion.

We actually had 2 awning/tents there. Paul (Cube guy) brought one and I had a back-up one.

The picture I posted is when everyone else cleared out - we didn't initially park like that. We just did it for a group shot.

FINALLY made it home .... 13 hrs after I left Nashville! All i have to say is that I am Definitely glad that I drove the Grand total of ~2,100 miles! was awesome learning some things and meeting all the YW + MI peeps (although I'm still having a rough time putting faces to screennames) .... BTW to the guy in the Blue Yaris with white shoes that we stood in front of while you where on the phone..... I was the one you saw ion the HWY!!! there I said it !

Ah, this is my first year so I wasn't sure what to expect. Having food available was nice for sure, it was just pricey. Something that would be kinda nice (IMO) would be a roving vendor cart with the stickers, shirts, drinks, etc. on it. The vendor area was pretty packed most of the day. If they just had a couple of golf carts roaming around with the IA gear and some water or something I feel like that would do pretty well and would be convenient.

Ill pass this onto the organizers. The carts that were roaming around this year were either vendors (Zero Lift) or people who brought their own. That super long cart was one someone brought in. They are already in rough planning for next year, it could be a 3 day event next year, Friday night could, potentially, possibly, might be 1/4 drags on the track. But that's a 1 day after IA'11 idea, there is a whole year to think about that.

She met up with us at the Hyatt around 6pm. She apparently felt like touring the city of Nashville first before showing up. :bellyroll: Essentially once she got on the road and all she thought that it was located somewhere else so she was a ways away by the time she was in the area.

Yeah, I finally got there around 5:30ish .... I think .... I drove around Nashville for a while thinking it was in the same place as the fall. Since everyone said "It's in Nashville" - well, Lebanon and Nashville are two completely different places so my blonde self wasted about an hour leading the guys around Nashville looking for IA. But yeah, got there late and then went to the pub and drove around Nashvegas for a while with everyone. I was glad to see everyone, it was fun :D Looking forward to next year even more now! And I have a new place to go on the weekends; that pubs f'n pickles are amazing. FOR REAL. haha
