I couldn't believe it, my girlfriend was looking at the different styles of carbon fiber hoods for the yaris and we found a photoshopped pic I had made a few years ago and posted here. Other than wheels and the rear spoiler my yaris was stock, and the rest of the image was photoshopped. I had added tint, lowered it, removed the amber from the headlights and made a OEM carbon fiber hood. The site is selling a OEM hood, and I had to laugh because mine was just photoshop skills and they are using my yaris to promote their hood.

My original thread: (This was lost after the hack, here instead is my neglected cardomain page: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2419954/2007-toyota-yaris) (http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2419954/2007-toyota-yaris)

Their sales thread: http://www.advancarbon.com/#/item/2006-2011_yaris_2_doors_hatchback_carbon_hood

*NOTE: I am in NO way promoting their site or endorse them. I am just sharing that I find it hilarious someone is using my altered photo to sell a product that isn't actually on the car.

I don't think it's funny at all. I take it very seriously when people steal my pictures for their own gain.

I've got two words for that.

F**ing lame!

Trying to turn a profit using something that is your work... not cool. Really, if you want to sell a carbon fiber hood, maybe you should take a picture of the actual product instead of just ripping off someone's photo you find on the internet. Wonder what shortcuts they used while making the thing...

Although, I have to admit Astroman, that's a damn good photoshop there!

I'd call them out on it.

definitely call them and ask for the explanation
if this won't help you can always claim some compensation on the court

Sounds like a job site. You do the work and someone else takes the credit.

That would make me VERY uneasy about doing business with them if they would use an image that is not an image of their actual product. Sounds very shady to say the least.

I know it's crazy. Another member had taken a picture of his TRD intake which a ebay seller photoshopped taking off the TRD logo and selling "generic" yaris intakes. I just find it amusing they're using my photoshopped image, the carbon fiber hood you see isn't even real! I'm going to send them an email thanking them for liking my car enough to use my picture, but that the "mods" are all fake and I need $ or free stuff, or at least acknowledgement on the photo.

For fun, original and altered photos:

you'll have to prove its yours though somehow.

And then find someone who cares. Get a good laugh about it and smear them if you can find them on some forums. Don't waste your time calling them or trying to sue. I can guarantee its not going to get you anywhere.

btw that pictures is the 7th hit on google images for - yaris carbon hood

I don't think it will be hard proving it's mine, I have plenty of pictures that are dated. I think it's amusing that in all reality a fake picture is proving to be so popular on google and is being used to promote a product. Just goes to show that beware of some sellers who don't give you the picture of their actual product. I for one want to see exactly what I'm buying from them. I'll keep you posted on my correspondence with them. Curious to see what they have to say...

Hear anything back from them on this? Copyright infringement is a serious matter, and if a business is using your work then you are entitled to compensation.

Dont know if you are still checking this out here is some info I got off the web. It's still a violation of copyright law to use someone else's copyright material without their permission. The people to contact is the digital rights office and make a DMCA complaint. You could legally prosecute them. After informing them they will be made to take them down i
ALL photographs are copyright. There is NO requirement to register a copyright for the copyright to be validmmediately.

Although this thread is almost 2 years old now I thought I'd post an update. Never heard from them, but now they have a picture of a real hood on a real car (although it is pretty small, of a white 5 door hatch).
