Yaris 2005 custom HU question

Hi all, I've looked at everyone's HU mods and noticed all are the northern american stereo which come stock with the car so the side panels with the hazards and the passenger airback light are indented and don't have holes for the full HU which comes stock with my car.

My question: What sort of HU could I install in my Yaris? I've decided to do this car up as a hobby.
The car: 2005 Yaris T3 European (Right-hand drive) Manual with digital speedo and tach. (No onboard computer which means no electronic windows, fuel consumption meter, central locking etc)

You can use any HU if you purchase the silver trim piece and the two vertical trim pieces like the US Yaris have. There are a few threads with the part numbers of the pieces. The other option is to purchase one of the HUs that is specifically designed to fit Yaris with the trim pieces that yours has.

My only worry is that the trims that I see advertised on eBay etc all say for Yaris models '07 and upwards and mine is '05...

That would fit. Much of the world didn't see the 2nd generation Yaris/Vitz until 2006 or 2007, but they began to be built in Japan in 2005.

I was quite surprised at the stock quality of the speakers which were in the Yaris to begin with. Not many small cars released nowdays have speakers that sound alright to begin with.

My second question: What harness am i supposed to be purchasing in order to make it all work? I plan to DIY and import from US or UK as my country is a rip off.

The same harness that Metra and other manufacturers list for 2007+ Yaris will be fine for your 2005.
