If you bought the car new take it back to the dealer, should be covered under the 3 yr 36000 mile warranty.

I'm ready to roll over 95000 on my 2007 and the only problem I had was the replacement of the ABS wheel sensors and wiring harness on the rear wheels, under warranty. The car is almost flawless in its performance and all. I'm surprised at all the problems that seem to be cropping up. My yaris has been the least expensive car I have ever owned and with gas prices starting to spike again I suspect that will continue. Let us know if your dealer takes care of it.

LR wheel bearing was replaced yesterday. Covered under warranty by 4000 miles whew! woulda been 500 bucks. Isnt that too soon for a wheel bearing to fail? jeez its a toyota!

Yeah, it seems aweful soon for it to fail, but if they thought the car was perfect you wouldnt need a warranty at all. Stuff happens. I wouldnt stress over it. They make many many millions of bearing and some are gonna fail.Your just the lucky owner who got one.

Last night I noticed while driving this sound that gets louder at 60mph( the peak of the sound). You will start to hear this sound at about 35-40mph then it gets a little quieter around 85mph then it starts getting louder again. The sound seems to be a droning/humming noise. Change in pitch goes along as the speed changes... Could this be a problem in the wheel bearing??

It could be. Either that or a tire.

BTW/FWIW.....
Yes bearings last much longer now now that they did in the past.
However, you can still get a defective one or one that was improperly installed.
