I have an elbow problem and this plastic door armrest is anything but confortable. Anybody ever did some kind of modification to improve comfort of this door armrest? Neoprene, foam padding or other?

It's just a matter of putting padding on the door and tape it on. Not very difficult to do.

i havent pulled the door panel off yet, but if someone has or if you do it (only takes 2 mins) but u could see if that hard piece comes off separate from the cloth and try to put on a thin layer of cloth using spray adhesive and then wrap it with some matching cloth.. just a thought

It does come off seperately. Like all the trim pieces in the car it just pops off. If I remember correctly, and I have an 07 hatchback, if you start pulling up from the rear part of the plastic trim it should pop right off. It does require some force. If you have trouble figuring it out let me know and I'll try to get some pics up.

No problem at all to remove most of interior trims in this car and I did in fact easily removed the armrest plastic trim; you just pull on it. What I'm looking for is if anybody ever got a nice idea about an elegant DIY padded armrest or something you can buy to do the job. Doesn't seems to be the case...

it's an intriguing idea. I'd like to see what you come up with if actually do anything. What if you found some kind of padded material to layer it with on the top and then covered it with neffy wrap? That way you could glue it on and then wrap the neffy around for a nice tight snug fit and the material around the edges of the plastic trim wouldn't be very thick then and it should still fit back into place nice and neat. I just don't know what you would use for the padding.
