tire pressure

hey guys, just a few simple question on tire pressure, I am currently running stock rims and tire, which I believe I still got like roughly 5k left. So my question is how much psi I should have. I am current running on about 37-40 psi. If I put 32 psi, I feel like my steering is heavy. So is 37-40psi too much and if it is how low should I go to. I am leaning dropping to 35psi. So any suggestions? Thanks

Why are you considering dropping pressure (what are you trying to achieve?)

i run about what your running on my steelies.. 38-40. and rotating every 5k with oil changes. keeps the tires wearing out pretty evenly.. also good gas milage

37 to 40 is fine. Don't mess with it. :smile:

Higher pressures like that will result in stiffer sidewalls...that helps handling, but will cause premature wear on the center of your treads...also, your tires are part of your cushioning and suspension system, so if you make them stiffer, you are transferring shock to your suspension system, which increases wear on it.

Everything is a trade off. If you car is a toy, sure, do any mods you want to increase your pleasure in driving it. But if it's a daily driver, I would follow factory specs for tire pressure. The extra MPG you massage out of it imo isn't worth the reduced traction and additional wear to the suspension.
