What's the typical price, dealer installed, for the TRD lowering kit?

Just for the install I've heard $315 - $405, but I think it varies from dealer to dealer.

A dealer told me about $500 ($80 per hour) to install the TRD sport shocks. Needless to say, I'm having an independent mechanic do it, at $50 per hour.

i believe so as long as they install it correctly and follow all directions. not 100% but i believe so

Well what if I do it myself? Because I can do it in about the time a mech can and all it will cost is a drink and some mcdonalds.

I called all three Toyota dealers in Memphis, but only one called me back with an install price: $675. Needless to say, I'm going to try harder to get a price from the other two, because that's just stupid.

BTW, I found out the answer on the warranty: any TRD parts installed by dealers get wrapped into the existing warranty, while TRD parts installed by anyone else carry with them a 1 yr/12K mile warranty.

Then the TRD parts would have a 1yr/12K warranty no matter who installed them, I would guess. No point in paying a dealer at that stage.

Only Springs - no shocks!

I feel it's overpriced, mainly because of the labor that the dealer charges.
In Canada, the springs are Eibach Pro (or was it Sport, I can't remember sorry). I understand that these "TRD" springs are rebadged Eibachs...

But the reason why I went ahead with it at the dealer level was because of a grad discount. Toyota gave me a $500 credit towards the purchase price because I qualified for the grad discount/rebate.

For the record, the price I was quoted ($675 USD) was labor only, to install shocks and springs.

Can you describe the differences you feel with just the springs? My first (and really, only) performance goal for this car is to greatly reduce the body roll in hard turns. I'm pretty happy with everything else, but I'd enjoy driving the Yaris much more if it didn't feel like it wanted to tip over everytime I turn quickly. How far do the springs alone go towards that end?

I can't comment on the labor for install of shocks and springs, but US $675 sounds a little on the steep side.

The TRD/Eibach Springs lowered the car about between 1.3~1.5" front and rear, and I can feel a difference in handling. Because of the lower center of gravity, the vehicle feels much more grounded when I make (hard) turns.

I understand the tippy feeling you get with the stock ride height; it's not as noticeable with lowering springs. Granted, there is still some slight body roll when I make hard turns at higher speeds but that is to be expected.

Overall, lowering springs will give you a more grounded feeling, and the tippy feeling, which in my opinion was very noticeable with stock ride height, is lessened to a reasonable level.

It won't be a night and day difference, but you will definitely notice that the car feels much more secure against the pavement when you are turning at higher speeds.
