Drivers door wont open from the inside

I have a second gen Yaris and today the drivers door suddenly stopped opening from the inside, but I can open from the outside? I have done nothing wrong to it, as I had opened the door from the inside 10 minutes earlier.

Is this a known problem at all? Or is it just that I am unlucky?

Sounds like the child safety lock is on. With the door open, look just inside of the slit for the door latch, and you'll see the small lever.

Oops - No that is correct, the safety locks are only on the rear doors.

The cable for the inside handle may be binding against the inside of the door panel. When the issue occurs do you feel resistance when pulling the inside handle, or does it move like it is not pulling against anything?

It feels as if theres nothing catching onto it. It feels like if you have the doors locked and try to pull on the outside it just goes up without resisting or anything.

In that case, I do think that the cable is binding. The next time it does it, try pulling on the armrest and holding pressure on it before pulling the door lever. If that works, then it is definitely a bound cable, which means pulling the door panel off to find out the cause of the bind.

Just tried it, nothing at all. It's just all flimsy.

the cable is unlatched from the handle. take the screw out of the middle of the handle and pull out the handle and check if the 2 cables are attatched.

The screw is under the handle. You can see the edge of the screw recess in my picture.

I've come to realise I have a 1st gen :redface: Tried taking the whole door card off, but it doesn't come off in the same way.
