Wheel Spacers

Hi, i have done a search and read some of the topics on wheel spacers but want to double check before buying

What mm can i go to before having to change the wheel bolts?

im going for 5mm on the front and was think 10mm on the rear.

Will these be ok?

You can get away with stock studs for 5mm (though I'm not recommending it). 10mm will require longer studs.

Ok thanks, the studs are on the hub so what will i need to buy to add 10mm spacers

other cars i have had you just by longer bolts/nuts

if your'e doing the 10mm inthe rear why not do the penguin spacer back there and not between the rim and drum.

the penguin spacer goes behind the backing plate. can be installed permanently in less than 30 minutes (assuming you inow what you're doing...), and dont damage/threaten the studs in any way. you can even go 13mm if you want

I'm now thinking of getting 10mm Ichiba Wheel Spacers for the front and 13mm penguins for the rear would this be a good set up for standard 17" SR wheels without any rubbing or catching?

^ this depends on the offset of the wheel and the tire being used, and also camber. A little negative camber goes a long way to eliminate rubbing (and improves handling too!).

It may be necessary to trim some fender liner away in spots to eliminate any rubbing.

Ok thanks for your advise, but as a set up 10mm at the front and 13mm at the rear is this a good starting point?

the wheels are 215/45/r17 not sure what the offset is

Installing 10 to 13mm spacers in the back will bring the rear wheels more inline with the fronts. Installing 10mm in the front will continue to push the wheels out further than the rear.

If you are looking for cosmetic symmetry front to rear, then I would not put anything on the front. What is your ultimate goal?

Main goal is for the rear to fill out the arch and better handling, i intend to add strut braces in the future but have no plans to lower the car at this point because i want to keep the ride comfortable.

Lowered every previous car i have owned and don't want a back breaking ride, plus UK roads are shit compared with US roads from what i've seen

^ you can either look up the wheel online, or it might be cast into the back of the wheel.
