So as stated in previous threads I am in dire need of new tires!

I went to my local mechanic and he gave me an out the door quote for a new set of shoes fro my Yaris....

Heres what he told me:

Hankook Optimo 727
W/ free road hazard protection

$460.68 Out the door price (Including mounting, balancing, aligning, and disposal)

What do you guys think about this price .... is it a fair price for these tires and the labor ... I think that only $26.08 of that price is labor!

Thank you in advance!

What are the reviews for those tires? Look into the General Exclaim UHP tires (I believe they're all seasons), and America's Tire (really great prices and service there, plus they'll price match and offer free replacements, etc).

I got some Yokohama avid trz from tirerack for 280 shipped. Took them to walmart to get them mounted and balanced for about 60 including unlimited balancing and tire rotations.

Stock 185/60/15. Last I checked the price went up a bit, but there are other decent tires within the same price range.

tirerack is about $310 shipped. figure $60 for mount and balance. the rest is alignment and tax. fair deal but you can do better. do you really need the alignment? get quotes from costco/bjs/walmart also to compare

Hankook Optimo H727's are insanely good tires for the price.

I had the Yokohama Avid T4's on my previous car. Good handling, and also good traction in the snow, as well as rain. When I need new tires for my Yaris, I'm getting those if they are still being made.

if this local mechanic is someone you trust and might be there for any future issues that arise with your car i'm for paying a little extra and building/maintaining a relationship with him.

yeah...if you shop around you might be able to beat his price, but is discount tire going to be there when you need a tune-up or something you can't handle on your own? sometimes local mechanics give their 'regulars' a discount.

a good mechanic you can trust is worth their weight in gold!
