Suspension advice and pic request

Newbie to the Yaris scene here. I've owned my 07 liftback for a week and I'm loving it :wub:. I'm so ready to pull the trigger on either a Tein/Tokico (blue) set up or a TRD set up, but I could really use some advice.

Which one would you go with and would you please comment on ride quality and comfort? Also, I would like to request a pic w/15" or 16" on a wheels on a lowered suspension too.

I've done some research here on this forum, but thought starting this thread would really help me make a deciscion (soon), as this car will be my "modded" daily driver. TIA :thumbup:

Thanks kou, your car look awesome...are those TR Motorsports wheels? I'm considering ordering a set.

BTW, how much gap is there in the wheel well and how much did it drop your vehicle. I've seen #s from 1.2-1.5 inches.

Get some coilovers instead. I've had the tein/tokico combo, and I loved it.The only thing I didn't like was not being able to adjust height and firmness. I ended up with Ksport coilovers, and I'm happy with being able to change it up once and awhile. It is a pita to adjust, but it's better than having to change out shocks and springs.

I have the same question as well, I got about a 200$ budget and I cant make a decision between TEIN's, Tanabe Or TRD springs. I have a stock suspension atm. on my 2009 3door hatchback. I do not know how how Ican go since I never tried to lower the car, but the roads where are live are not perfect and occasional potholes find their way under my tires.

'09 on TRD suspension. The springs themselves on stock shocks is bouncy. The full bit is pretty firm but not unbearably so. Wheels are stock 15" pizza slicers. :drinking:

Check my garage also. Lowered on TRD springs and struts with 16 inch RPF1's. I like the feel, so no complaints.

BTW, did you have to trim down the bump stops with the TRD springs?

If you had a chance to do it all over again, would you still go with the TRD springs or would you have dropped you car lower (Tein or Tanabe DF210)? I want my Yaris to be little lower, but not if the ride quality/comfort will be a lot worse than the TRDs (which seem comfortable). Thx again and keep the pics and suggestions goin :clap:

shouldn't have to cut bump stops with TRD springs. Tanabe instructions call for cutting them in half only. I'd imagine TEIN should be treated the same way.

Ride comfort with Tein and Tanabe springs is very good, not too stiff. DF210's are only 14% over stock (just enough to compensate for the drop).

Micro Image springs are stiffer.

For a milder drop (1" - 1.25"), Tanabe NF210 or Eibach Prokits.

i run eibach sportlines and stock shocks...ride is good due to the progressive spring rates

they also came with shorter bump stops for the front struts...

I have eibach prokits and 15 inch toyota wheels with 196/60 tires,tokico hts dampners,gt spec braces,etc.

Ride can be rough as a Cobb or almost factory ....can also be a bit unstable at freeway speeds, if the shocks are not tuned well to the springs.

Car handles very well ,for what it is,i have done a few tests and overall I like it.

Tuneing a suspension correctly can be a chore. It took me 2 years to get my 70 stingray to be a excellent handling car.

IMO....I dont just go in for lower it as far as you can add super stiff springs ,bolt on as big a wheel with as low of a profile tire as you can etc...this never works out in reality unless you just like to have the "look" and cruise a strip at legal speeds.:biggrin:

Looks like I'll be goin with a set of Tein DF210's and Tokico (blue) shocks and struts from Garm. I cant wait till my stock Yaris is modded :thumbup:.

Just a note: The TRD springs and shocks are mated to eachother. There is no need to cut the bumpstops with both in tandem. Using just the springs will lead to a little bit of bounce in the front end. I had my springs in before the shocks but didn't cut my bumpstops because I knew I would eventually pair the two. Your mileage may vary.

Honestly im looking at some tein stech springs for my 10 LB and going with some Drag DR-31s. Im excited for those and dont really care about the bumps on the road.

i have the Tein S-tech on , and looking to add the tokico HTS to the setup that has adjustment , i like where the ride hieght is and even when i had my Tein coilovers in which i loved and miss alot , i only set the ride hieght once , so , considering that setup as a option.
