Oil level

I have recently bought a second hand Toyota Vitz (Yaris) from Japan and decided to take the car to a mechanic to do a full service before I start to use it.

After the service, I checked the oil level when the engine was cold and noticed that the oil level is about 2 millimetres above the `full level` mark ( a little overfilled)

According to the manual, the oil level must be checked when the engine is at operating temperature and you wait for a few minutes after the engine is switched off so that the oil will drain back into the bottom of the sump. When I followed this procedure the oil level was marked at the full level.

Shall i get the car back to the mechanic and tell him to drain some of the oil so that (according to the manual) I avoid any damage to the engine?

2mm isn't going to affect anything. I wouldn't worry about it.

Most engines are designed to acomodate a bit of overfilling without any problems whatsoever.
Overfilling any engine a small amout is fine as long as the level does not reach the spinning crankshaft.

As long as there is no hint of oil foaming (on the dipstick) that can be caused by a spinning crankshaft dipping in the oil, you are fine.
Most engines (including the Yaris) are designed so you can over fill them a little without having the oil reach the crankshaft.

BTW, 2mm is such a small amount and not worth worring about....it is not even considered overfilling IMO

they put in more than the max amount. prob put in 5q. if you're really worried about it, dump it and put in 3.5q n check it....the thing should take i think 3.7. i put in 4.

Not to start another discussion or anything, but I change my own oil and it only takes me 3qts (after full draining the reservoir and replacing the oil filter), and the fill level makes it to half of an inch below the "full" line, which is close to perfect in my opinion.
