After 4 years I replaced the battery... it didn't really fail, but began to crank for a very long time when extremely cold. New battery installed, and it starts with a "jump".

I had to rebuild my transmission when I got it due to leaking input shaft seal which is placed on the inside of the transmission, the clutch howerver had plenty of life left on it.

Do you guys replace the entire wiper blades with after market ones or do these wipers have slide in blades from the dealer?
I thought for some reason that the OEM blades slid out and were replaceable with new rubber inserts....

^ They are. Inserts are dirt cheap compared to whole OEM replacements, or any other aftermarket stuff.

I just found that I have to replace my wiper arms, they are completely rusted and have paint flaking off them...damn this UK climate. My wheels are also badly corroded and have finish flaking off, this has only just happened as we had a particularly harsh winter this Christmas.

The OEM wipers are so much better than anything in the aftermarket I have ever tried (which is every brand sold at common stores).

Replaced so far in 4 years:
Windshield (rocks from highway)
Front bumper (cracked)
Side wheel covers (these scrape easily)
4 factory tires (wore out at 60,000km)
2 front brake pads (down quite a bit)
2 front brake rotors (original started to score)
Wiper blades 2x both sides
Speed sensors both side (due to corrosion)

Right now:
Factory battery - DEAD

Next up:
2 rear brake shoes (getting low)
Transmission oil replacement (required)
Coolant replacement (required)
2 front wheel bearings (for good cause)
2 front axles (appears bent)
1 right front outer tie rod (leaking grease)
1 right sway bar link (left one replaced @ $200 rip)
2 front struts / 2 rear

^ u my friend got a lemon of a yarii.....how many km on ur car? what have u done to it? all extra work i have needed done to my yaris is cuz somehow i messed up and got it covered under warranty

and to OP thats great, i dont know how u did it..... it was raining today and i was noticing that i will prob have to replace my wipers within the next 6 months. my car was a year old as of jan 6th and i now have about 45,000km

better then my moms 01 camry, she eats wipers every 8 months or less. think it has to do with it being still the original windsheild and the surface is getting rough.

At 70K Kms mine are 50% all around..probably get the whole job done at 100K

Wife needed new pads at 66k miles. You definately want to look at them once a year after 50k or so. Personally my brake pads (front) go 100k +.
I let the wifes get to 1/32 inch which was cool and got another year out of them.

I'm at 124,000km.

Bad luck - windshield, front bumper, wheel covers
Warranty replaced - speed sensor
Ware/tear - factory tires, wiper blades, pads/rotors/shoes, battery,
Required maintenance - tranny oil (@106,000km), coolant change (@126,000 i believe)

The rest:
1. Sway bar link (would rather spend $10 to get aftermarket so both sides are new), the other side @ $200 was hitting a pot hole that the town paid for, dealer cost for 1 sway bar link is $200Cdn. Aftermarket $"15" for 2.
2. I have front end vibration, did some measurements with the dial indicator and visual inspection of the axles. The axles need replacing (CV joint) and MAYBE the wheel bearings (no noise though).
3. When I was inspecting my Yaris yesterday there was grease leaking from the right outer tie rod.
4. Struts and shock absorbers start to deteriorate after 80,000km. Time is ticking and maybe at 190K km I'll replace them if they start to bounce. But hey, it's on the list. :)

I think the 401 in Toronto is rough on vehicles.

When I drove around Toronto I noticed a lot of cars, even not-so-old, had rusted out bottoms and sideskirts.

^ what, are you allergic to the dealership? Just go to the parts counter and grab some inserts. OEM FTW in this case.
