View Full Version : DIY: 2006-2011 Yaris OEM Cruise Control Complete Installation

The 34 page PDF file below is a complete DIY for installing OEM Cruise Control on a 2006 to 2011 Yaris.

This will only work for US/Canda/Puerto Rico Yaris, as Yaris from all other areas lack the built-in ECM programming for Cruise Control. Vehicles from other areas must use an aftermarket cruise control system.

Any procedure that requires 34 pages of documentation may seem intimidating, but this installation is really not difficult. I tried to add as much detail as possible to clarify the parts where people who have installed cruise control have had questions.

This guide is broken up in to seven sections encompassing the following:

Section 1: OEM Cruise Control Stalk Installation.
Section 2: Steering Column Connector D3 Pin Installation
Section 3: ECM Connector A21 Pin Installation
Section 4: Connecting the ECM Pin to the Steering Column Pin Through the Firewall
Section 5: Cruise Control Clutch Switch Installation
Section 6: Optional Cruise Control Indicator Module Installation
Section 7: Verifying Operation

Hey Scott...tried replying to your message but it doesn't work. So here it is:

*How do I go about buying these parts from you? Are there additional parts to purchase (wires, connectors, etc.) on top of what you supply? Or is this a "turn key" kit?

Thanks again!

pennyracer: at minimum you just need

the single wire that plugs into the ECM ($~20, order by part number from a dealership),

~10 ft of thin wire,

and any switch of your liking (4-way ($15+shipping), push-buttons ($3-10)).

How much does cruise control at the dealership even cost to have put on?

The quotes that I have seen for Cruise installation by the dealer have been around $500. I am not sure if they are still doing so, but in the past for non-factory cruise control installation they always used the Rostra aftermarket system, rather than taking advantage of the ECM's built in functionality.

I got the oem cruise stalk, pins and clutch switch from Scott. The parts got here so fast that I didn't have a chance to read the cruise DIY carefully. BTW Scott is great to deal with and he always willing to help if you run into any issue.

Install took about 2 1/2 hours and half the time was spent fishing the wires through the firewall. I ended up cutting a piece of coat hanger in order to fish the clutch switch wire above the clutch pedal. I also removed the battery since I couldn't figure out where the wire would come out. Once the wires got through the firewall the rest of the install was pretty straight forward. I did have a bit of a problem getting one of the pins into the D3 connector. But once the pins are properly in place, I went out for a quick drive and the cruise works like a charm.

Thanks again Scott.

First I would just like to say I have just found this forum and am very excited to find all this info. Thank you to everyone who contributes.

Does anyone know if this cruise control addition will work on a 2013 Yaris right hand drive 1.3 automatic built for the Australian market? Only the base model (ours) doesn't have cruise control and we would love to add it.

We also have a 2006 but it is not drive by wire and we don't want an aftermarket kit so if I can put it on the 2013, that will be the one we take on longer drives.

I have shipped cruise control parts to Australia for installation on 3rd generation Yaris with the 1.5L engine. I am not sure about it working on the Australian 1.3L, although it does work for the European 1.33L Yaris.

Unfortunately after contacting the main dealer today, they have said the 998cc is not equipped with cruise for the UK. If I were to fit an aftermarket cruise system it would affect my warranty. Well I'm not worried about that but am a little cost conscious, a Google search last night revealed the price is likely to be circa £500 ($750)

I have noticed as well that the aftermarket cruise control options for European Yaris are crazy expensive. I believe that the Rostra system, which was the dealer installed cruise control option for the US for 07-08 Yaris, will work on European Yaris, nut I have not had the opportunity to test the theory yet. The Rostra kits were about $250. I actually have one of the kits in my possession, and really need to coordinate doing some experimentation on one of my European trips.

Now I'm really confused or dense; I've been assured the Rostra 250-1836 cruise stalk and the 250-4206 clutch switch will work with my car. I don't see how as its only the switches and a few wires, if the car is not pre-wired and configured theirs nothing smart for the cruise stalk to talk to. Is that right? Or am I both confused and dense? Perhaps this seller wants me to add gullible?

The Rostra 250-1836 definitely will not and the 250-4206 is just the clutch switch. It is the same as what I sell (but for much more money). The Rostra kit that I believe will work is the discontinued one that used a smaller stalk that mounted to the opposite side of the steering wheel and had a green LED on the stalk. That kit includes a control box that does the cruise control functionality (which your ECM lacks) and is does so by intercepting and overriding the throttle pedal signals.

Excellent! So, now we know that both 1.5L and 1.3L Australian 3rd generation Yaris support cruise control.

Just another confirmation that all worked well on an Australian spec 2013 1.3L automatic.

I did take photos but cant resize them to upload. Many photos on this site anyway so probably not going to add a lot of value by posting mine.

It was extremely easy, the airbag just popped out once the 3 pins were pushed in. I had disconnected the battery before removing the airbag and waited 10 minutes as was advised by a mechanic friend. All in all it took 20 minutes including the 10 minute battery wait and a call to the dealership to get the reprogramming code for the stereo. All plug and play, there was only one slot so couldn't get it wrong. All the functions and cruise control dash indicators work correctly.

The only thing that makes it look not factory is the cover plate that is removed for the cruise control stalk can't be reinstalled as is and there is a gap around it. A photo of a genuine one with a cutout would be nice so I could cut a hole in mine and make it look neater.

Hi Scott, I have a 2011 Yaris Hatchback, MT, and have been trying to install a Rostra cruise control. I've put in the 250-1836 and the clutch switch. It seems I don't need the ECM hookups and have not put them in. The light comes on at my dash, but the cruise control doesn't work. It sounds like I should just toss it and buy yours. If so, would you want all of this Rostra stuff? Any other tips? Thanks for being out there! Wish I'd found you before messing with Rostra!

If the cruise symbol lights up, then you are good for the ECM connection. If your can't get the "SET" light to come on (and the cruise to actually work), then the clutch switch may not be installed correctly.

The clutch switch needs to be fully depressed when the clutch pedal is not touched in order for cruise to work. If you installed the switch in too far, then it will not actuate when the clutch is at rest and therefore will not allow cruise to work.

The Rostra 250-1836 kit is essentially identical to what I sell, but for a whole lot more money. (The older kits were a custom Rostra product, but the new ones are just the OEM switch, etc.)

I checked the clutch, and it looked like the clutch pedal was depressing it enough, but I extended it a bit more anyway. The cruise control still didn't work. I removed the clutch switch wires and went for another drive. Cruise control still didn't work even though the cruise control dash came on. When installing the kit, it seemed too simple an installation for the cruise control to actually work. Does the device send radio signals to the ECM to tell it what to do?

When you say you removed the clutch switch wires, did you unplug the OEM connector that was taped to the harness just above the clutch pedal, or did the Rostra kit include its own wiring for the clutch?

The stalk is a wired connection to the ECM. It is simply four switches and three resistors and the ECM sees the voltage drop across the resistor when one of the switches is pressed. The clutch switch is also a switch input to the ECM, which routes through one of the connectors in the under-hood fuse panel to get there.

The Rostra instructions said to splice the two wires from the clutch switch to the two wires leading to the A29 connector. The connector was taped up out of the way and was not connected to anything. The CC should work without the clutch switch installed, so I disconnected those wires. Still, the dash CC indicator light comes on and CC doesn't work. I will next take the airbag off and make sure everything is done right there, but it's so simple that even I should be able to get it right.

I installed one of the old style Rostra CC units in my 2010 Yaris, and it works well. It cost a lot more and is more elaborate. The 2011 Yaris belongs to my wife. Her knee is hurting her, and the cruise control helps a lot, so we need to get it going. (You probably didn't need to know all that.)

Thanks for all your time and help.

The CC will not work unless the clutch switch is indeed connected properly. It is a normally closed switch and the ECM needs to see that connection and will abort cruise when it is not.

You are my hero. It was the clutch switch hookup. It is pretty difficult to work under the dash, and I suppose I didn't make one of the clutch switch connections correctly. This time, I took the seat out so it was easier to work and made the two connections work. I screwed up one to my splicers and soldered the connection instead. Soldering is actually easier than using the splicers, and it is obvious when it is done right. When I installed the CC in my Yaris, it would work without the clutch switch hooked up. In fact, I saw how the brake switch worked and figured out a way to install a micro switch I had left over from my days as an airplane mechanic instead of buying a Rostra switch.

What other products do you sell besides the CC?

Mr. Scott,
You are a man of your word and then some!
By far the best simplest installation ever!

I got home late from work, looked over the instructions and thought maybe I should wait when I had more time, it's already dark...
I sat down and really read the instructions and realized I was done after step 2! So went out and did it. The thing that took the longest was finding a T30 to fit. I had a socket set of them but it was to big/short to get all the way in. But once I got one that worked I was off and running!

Great job! Thank you !:clap:

Just did my 07 hatchback, took 2 hours. Only problem, the butt connector was too small for the third wire from the LED and the eye ring was also too small for the bolt shown in the instructions. Other than that I have cruise for $93 with the LED indicator. Awesome considering I've known of and owned a Yaris for about 9 days.

Hi !

i did every step for the cruise control stalk, i didnt do any wiring yet cause i dont know if i need to do it.

In the tutorial, they said that i need to look at the D3 Connector here what my panel look like

http://i61.tinypic.com/kb2mhl.jpg

I think that my D3 connector is no 1. if not , can you guys tell me which connector i need to look at. On this connector , i see the pink and blue wire,i dont see any black wire.

i dont know what is the steering column wire but on the D3 connect, it look like the previous owner of the car cut a remove a wire ( i circled it in red), and i dont know if the white wire sold where the no.2 is , was connected on the D3 Connector.

I dont know what is no.3 black box either. here's what written on the top of that black box.

http://i59.tinypic.com/2uh26ie.jpg

I alos took a picture of where the black box wires are going, but i can't see where they end up.

http://i60.tinypic.com/2powtbb.jpg

I tried the cruise control switch on the road but i didnt work. The horn's working so i dont think its the cruise control stalk connector.

Can you guys help me out on this please.

thanks you !

http://i61.tinypic.com/kb2mhl.jpg

I think it's the number one 1., but it dont look like the same as in the tutorial.

There's a wire at no.2 , i dont know what this for, i a saw a black box no.3 also. I dont know if it's the previous owner who wiring this.

Can you help me out , thanks you. !

Hi there,

im doing an DIY Cruise Control installation on my Yaris 2007 Sedan (w/o power) automatic.

Im in the step that a i've to wire ECM A21 Connector 41 pin to the D3 Connector. The problem is i can't find my D3 connector.

Here's a photo of my control panel :

http://i58.tinypic.com/z4nm0.jpg

and a closer one :

i think it the no.1 but i'm not quite sure, cause in the tutorial, it's says that i've to look at a black wire, but i dont see any black wire alone.

I've install the cruise control stalk, i went on the road to try the cruise control but it didnt work. My horn's working so i guess the steering wheel connector is okay.

On number 2. in the picture, there's a white coming out from a bunch of wire directly connected (solder) to a yellow wire, i dont know if this is why it doesn't work. And on the no1 connected, i've circle a spot , there's a pin there but i dont know if it's that white wire that has been caught by the previous owner...

and that yellow wire is connected to a black box (no.3 on the picture) , and i dont know what this black box for. Here's what you can see on the top of that black box.

http://i59.tinypic.com/2uh26ie.jpg

and here's where those wires goes. I dont know where they end up.

Bought the parts from CTScott for a 2011 toyota yaris sedan, power package, automatic. Parts arrived very fast. Worked great! To clarify the guide, the only thing you need for my same car configuration is the control stalk, wire harness (connects cruise control and horn to rest of car), and 2 screws. No need for the D3 stuff like the guide says.

Correct - For a 2011 Sedan with power you do not need to make the D3 connections as they will already be complete.

masterpipo1 - Those are the same pictures (and for some reason you posted them three times) as what you PMed me. As I told you in the PM you are looking in the wrong place for connector D3. Again, as I stated in the PM - Look at my cruise control DIY for simple instructions on how to remove the lower steering column cover to access D3: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=33750

Also, I don't know what that floating relay is for in your pictures, but the twisted bare wire is not a safe thing to have under your dash.

Yes. Same OEM stalk is used for 2012 as for 2008. Other than the different release of the airbag, there is no difference for 2012 from 09-11. I have the parts required if you are interested.

Just used your guide to install a stalk and wiring. Worked great! The only thing I ran into was that I read the part about the indicator as "Yes: You'll need the indicator kit" or "No: You won't need the indicator kit" so I was a little disappointed when no light came on in the cluster but so happy to have cruise control on this car! Might have to get the indicator kit sometime just to have it in there.

Well, we're on our first road trip with the cruise control and it hasn't been completely smooth. The on/off button doesn't seem to work reliably the first time after starting the car. After you get it to come on the first time, it works great.

Is this just a problem with the switch/stalk i got? Is the control just a resistor ladder and could i just install a momentary switch with a resistor across the leads?

Amazon. I should have contacted you first but was trying to be sure to get it in before this trip and it was prime shipping. I've already contacted the seller to see if i can get a replacement for just the stalk since i don't want to pull all the wire out.

The good news is that if the schematics I've seen are correct, the on/off button is just a short to ground with no resistor. Worst case scenario, i mount a momentary switch to the dash and connect it across the leads coming from the back if the steering wheel.

By the way, are you still selling the indicator modules?

The on/off is just a switch to ground. I would check all of your connection points to make sure it isn't an intermittent connection. If the stalk is one of the Chinese clones, it could be a bad switch within it as well.

I do still sell the indicator modules.

Well, I got a chance to meter the switch finally. Getting 1.5-2 ohms when the on/off button is pressed. Not sure if that's so high that the ECU thinks that it's not ground. I suppose if there's any other resistance such as oxidation on one of the pins between the switch and the ECU it would bump that resistance up and it wouldn't know what to do with it.

Try to read the resistance between the main chassis ground next to the battery and the battery terminal itself, then compare it to the reading you're getting between the ground connection you're using for the stalk and the battery terminal. Subtract the main ground to terminal value to it and that's how much resistance that you should try to reduce. I would assume the ECU has a direct wiring to the battery terminal clamp, but the manufacturer would take for account the resistance in chassis ground when setting the value range for the CC inputs, since the stalk would be connected to chassis (same connection as the horn by connector D3, right ?).

I did the readings on my own setup (I used 2x 2-way rocker switch and connecting my ground to the bolt behind the kick panel under the steering wheel) and had a lot of resistance using that ground point compared to the main chassis ground, but still I have flawless operation so far (installed it and been using it daily for 5 days now).

However I would really doubt that the switch internal resistance of less than 2 ohms would throw every off. It sounds more like a bad contact inside the ON/OFF switch, otherwise you wouldn't be able to use all the other function flawlessly.

That is fine. There is about 30 ohms of tolerance for each of the switch modes.

Was the ECM pin a genuine one that seated properly in the ECM connector?

Pretty sure it seated properly. It felt like it clicked in there. I'll try to pull it out again tomorrow morning and make sure it seats correctly. I would think if that were the issue the rest of the functions wouldn't work right.

The other one will only work after on/off works, so unless you can watch the cruise control input on a Toyota Techstream tool, you really can't tell if the other functions are working when on/off is now.

Well, I think I figured out what the problem is. I went ahead and pulled the ECM plug back out and checked it out. On closer inspection, the wire that came with the kit does not have the little rubber piece that goes directly behind the pin. This piece not only looks like it seals out moisture, but also locks the pin more securely than the pin lock mechanism does on it's own.

This would explain why it worked flawlessly right after I finished the install because the pin had just been seated. Add on top of that that I didn't have any zip ties for a couple days to re-secure the ECM wires and it was a recipe for that pin to vibrate out slightly.

Anyone know what that piece is called? If I can get a picture, I'll post it to show what I'm talking about. Where would I find these?

Edit: I found a picture. It's the blue piece right behind the pin on the yellow wire.

Mr CTScott. I just want to say THANK YOU for taking the time to make this tutorial. Just the fact that its over 6 years old and still being used is a testament to its quality. I just finished installing CC on my 2009 manual 3dr hatchback base. I did go the OEM route and used all Toyota parts for the install. I think it took about 25 mins all said and done. I realize I could have done it cheaper but I just don't like messing with aftermarket parts for stuff like this.

In case anyone is interested here are the Toyota part numbers that I used.

84632-08021 - Cruise Control Assembly - Amazon $84.99
88280-14030 - Cruise Control Clutch Release Switch - Amazon $21.72
45184-52130-B0 - Cover with Cruise Control Hole - ToyotaPartsDeal $23.76
84633-02020 - Cruise Control Switch Wire (with male spade connector for horn) $29.12

I live in the middle of butt hurt nowhere. It's a 90 min drive to Walmart! I cant tell you how happy this makes the wife and I

They are M5 screws. Any hardware store will have them. The shortest ones you can find should do fine.

Scott,

Thanks for the cruise control kit for my 2014 Yaris L. Just as you said, it was easy to install, really plug and play. Took about 20 mins. and the wiring you included for stalk and horn wire made connections simple.

If I can do it anyone can!

Dear Toyota friends!

I would get some confirmation about cruise control. My Dad's birthday gift would be a cruise. He has a 2008 Auris 1.33 petrol europe(uk) engine code 1nr-fe.
Did see one of supported yaris has the same engine.
Will it fit?
Can you give me name of small metal connectors or a source for them?
Please help, thank you!

Hi I couldnt find any introduction page so My name is Alper and from Turkey.
I have a Yaris 1.33 1NR-FE Multi Mod transmission I checked my VINN number and it says that my car's market: North America, Europe(UK) by the way it is made in France.
TYPE: NSP90L-CHLGKW
I was wondering if my car's ECU has built in CC functionality.
Is there anything I can do to figure out this?

The on/off is just a switch to ground. I would check all of your connection points to make sure it isn't an intermittent connection. If the stalk is one of the Chinese clones, it could be a bad switch within it as well.

I do still sell the indicator modules.

Hello Im new in forum,I have Yaris G mod. 2014 5dor. aut. smart entry&start system and want to have CC. Im swedish but live in Thailand. How can I tjeck if it possible to put it in my car.The car seem to have a diffrent ECU (ECM) It spli to 2 units behind the glove compartment. If you know about this, can you sell me one to me ??

Hi everyone,
I have a US Model, 07, M/T, 1.5L, 3 door hatch. I'm installing this CC solution and I'm at the point where I'm running the D3 connector to the ECM pin 40. Please see the pic below. Which wire and pin do I send to the ECM and which one do I ground? The picture of my Yaris is different then the pictures in the instructions from CTScott. Thanks!!

Hi all,
I just wanted to post my experience with this version of the car if anyone is interested. I have a 2010 US Sedan auto transmission with no power windows/locks, but with AC. I found a couple of interesting differences with my car that I couldn't figure out from the pdf, so I thought I would share. Big thanks to CTScott for the guide!

I was able to get the stalk from a junkyard Camry (04-09 I think, according to the other thread). I pulled off the extra wiring from the Camry and was able to pull the pins out from the larger Camry connector, which I was able to fit into the smaller connector (with the horn wire, section 1.4.3 in pdf) from the Yaris. Cost about 10 dollars for the stalk locally. If you do need to pull those wires from the Camry connector, you have to pull really hard (I thought I was going to break it) but it will disconnect if you have the lock popped up. One last thing about the stalk, I only had a 1 inch circular drill bit (Spade bit? the flat kind..) but it worked out fine. I highly recommend cutting the hole in the plastic, it is quick and easier than pulling the steering wheel.

Next, I found that the ECM pin already had a wire in it (it says this in the guide) so I was able to use a tap splice to connect to this. I precut the wires with a wire stripper to expose the wire to the splice (wasn't sure if it would cut the insulation fully). Firewall install wasn't too bad, as I was also installing a car amp wire. However, I think my grommet was in backwards, since I had to flip it around behind the carpet to pull it out.

The last thing I found was that I did not have any D3 connector pins. I found an ebay seller who makes the same wire and sells them for cheap (8 bucks shipped for 2 pins). I used some wire from the remote turn on from my amp kit (18 gauge) to connect the ECM tap splice to these D3 connectors. Make sure the pin lock snaps in easily with a nice click and you are good. I was able to see the indicator on the dash after connecting the battery and holding the ground wire to metal. Took it for a test drive today and it worked like a charm!

Quick summary:
2010 Yaris sedan, AT, no power windows or locks

Need to buy:
Stalk and wiring to horn pin (Need T30 bit to get into wheel)
D3 connectors
18 gauge wire or similar small gauge wire
Tap splice that fits your wire gauge
Butt connectors or crimp caps (I used Install Bay CC2218 since I had them)

You need a few other basic tools from the pdf, so read over it to get the gist. Thank you to all who posted on these forums about this so I could install a cruise control in my car for $21!

Got it installed today, took me about 5 hours, but soldered and heat shrank everything and made a harness. Found a radio harness from a 2020 4Runner (extra parts from a Alpine sub install) that had a female connector that i was able to modify for the clutch switch. Very easy install, just needed to adjust the clutch switch after the test drive. Only thing i'm not happy with is the connections in the fuse box. I need to figure out how to pull the pins, so i can get some heat shrink on them. I'm sure the tape would be fine, being enclosed and all, but it bothers me.

Welcome to the forum!

If I'm not mistaken 2006 is the start of the 2nd Gen. I have a 2008 2dr hatch, and I've installed a cruise control. It was really useful when I moved from Maryland to San Diego. I don't do much of a long drive here, so I don't get to use it. Now I'll be moving back in June, so I'd get to rely on it again.

I think this was the video that I followed:

LS,

I have a problem to unpin the original cable from the earting connection on the airbag to the steering wheel.
I get the blocking plastic bit out, but cannot remove the pin from the housing.
And also I tried to download the manual pdf, http://tinyurl.com/CruiseDIY, but that does not work (anymore, or, just for me ?)
Help would be very much appreciated.

Nice that I found this, looks easy enough.
Long road trips the cruise on my '08 manual, sedan w/power will come in handy, just worried about any loss of power on the hills with the 1.5L, drove a bit into the mtns through the hwy1 hills a little bit into the rockies (Banff/Nakiska/back road hwy 40) back to the big city, and I had to downshift sometimes, just day 3 driving the cutie Yaris. I still need to fine tune the rpm gear change on the manual, I go by sound of rpms, but am in it for fuel sipping.

Link worked for me
Thanks

I have a 2009 Yaris 2 door hatchback with a 5-speed trans. It has factory installed cruise control and 332,000 miles on the odometer. The cruise control recently stopped working. I've tried to activate the CC however the yellow CC light in the instrument cluster does not illuminate, nor will the CC operate. Hoping the culprit was a blown fuse I inspected all fuses - all seem fine. Then, hoping it was the CC stalk (hoped that the switch wore-out) I replaced the stalk with a brand new OEM stalk #84632-08021 Speed Control Switch. The CC still doesn't operate. I checked the original stalk with a multi-meter and the original stalk has continuous power while the stalk button is kept pressed in, but as soon as I remove all pressure off the button continuous power is disconnected. I assume that's how the on/off button in the stalk is supposed to operate(?).

I'd really like to get the CC operational again. What should be next course of action? I suspect that even if either CC disengage switch on the clutch and brake pedals are faulty, the CC indicator light on the instrument cluster would still light up. Is there a relay that powers the CC? Again, the yellow CC indicator light on the center instrument cluster does not illuminate. Other than the CC not being functional, everything else works flawlessly. Bad relay? Bad ECM? Or?...... Any advice that you may provide to restore my CC is greatly appreciated.

10-1 odds are its your snail AKA spiral cable, its actualy one of the hardest wearing parts on a car as your basicly bending wires back n forth every time you turn the wheel

9-10 times when a FACTORY CC fails it can be traced to 1 of 2 things, a bad spiral cable or a bad brake switch..and before you go and check if your brake lights work..remember that it has a secondary set of wires on the switch SPECIFIC to the cruise and not part of the brake lights

yet the first thing anyone replaces is the cruise stalk thinking its that....belive it or not ive yet to find one dead that wasnt physically visually damaged on the outside...fun side note is that said switch sometimes replacing it with other bad parts will give a false positive and youll have working cruise for a single use...its because you got lucky...i chased that demon earlier this year on an XB..intermitent CC working..was a combo of the spiral AND the brake switch both were intermitently bad

Finally finally FINALLY getting to the CC mod

Looking at the install guide, it seems to imply that my 2011 M/T doesn't need wiring installed. Looks like it already has a clutch switch installed, and it seems that all I need to do is install the stalk.

Does that sound right?

(would be great if I can do this for $35)

Hey guys, I got the kit today and installed the CC in a 2008 Yaris (no cruise light)...fast forward and I can't seem to get it to work. Did some troubleshooting over all connections (Pins are fully seated), checked the ground and the connection at the ECM all seem fine. When checking the voltage at D3 pin1 I have 13.3V, hold down the on/off switch and still 13.3V (not going to 0V). Could it be possible that the offshore Amazon stalk is bad out of the box? Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Just did the install today and no luck. I have a 2007 with no indicator light and want to troubleshoot to see if I'm at least the switch to the ECM is working.

How do I troubleshoot this? I saw that some are mentioning that they're testing voltage while depressing the on/off switch. Are you removing the pin from the D3 connector and then using a multimeter to test? I'm not sure how else that would be done. I did pull the pin and checked and am getting 13.3 volts whether I press the on/off button or not.

Update - I found the issue. The splice connector under the hood was not set up properly. Set it up correctly and all is working well.

GIVING ADVICE TO AVOID A STUPID MISTAKE I MADE on my Toyota Yaris III (100 VVT-i Collection 5p, 2010–2015)

I spent a lot of time browsing forums to get the cruise control stalk to work on my car (the clutch switch and CC light on the instrument cluster were already in place).
The reason it wasn’t working was that I had wired it incorrectly in the steering wheel. At first, I plugged the stalk into the brown cable connector—it fit, but it was a bit smaller. Instead, I should have connected it where all the steering wheel cables meet (blue, brown, and yellow connectors). There was an empty slot there that perfectly matched the stalk connector.
For other Yaris models, you might need to install additional parts. Here’s a great step-by-step DIY guide:

https://www.toyotanation.com/attachments/2006-2011-yaris-oem-cruise-control-diy-pdf.419080/
