Should I buy these HID? they seem cheap, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/XENON-HID-KIT-RE-D2S-D2R-H1-H3-H4-H7-H11-H13-9006-9007-/290521939104?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item43a474fca0

No. They are cheap because they are cheaply made. 15000 Kelvin is also WAY too purple. Optics will be all wrong, you'll throw purple light everywhere, gather the attention of cops, and the visual output actually put on the road will be less than with the stock halogens.

Stick to the 4300K-5500K and a projector setup from Micro Image if you want the best for your car. Then again, if you are just trying to look JDM, yo...buy the girly purple lights.

There's a reason he doesn't carry them. They aren't any good, but if you're set on them, get the eBay ones. Just make sure you order several, as you'll be replacing ballasts or purple bulbs often enough.

How often?

It all depends on how dedicated the Chinese worker was to his work that particular day. Some people get years out of them with no trouble. Some of them are even on this site. Others put them in and have nothing but problems right off the bat. Blown ballasts in less than a week. Some of those people are on this site too.

It's a chance you take. I'm just trying to stress that they are poorly performing (and illegal) lights. Your mileage may vary.

It's an expression. You may get a shit set of lights that blow in a week. You may get a set that outlasts your children. It will vary.

Is it possible to express the brightness and color of the stock headlights in "3000K", "1500K" etc? Where would they be?

If I may ask, why are you looking for such high numbered lights?

marcus

im sure most people know that most useable light is between 3500k to 6000k anything higher just looks like its bright due to temp..but hey i could be wrong.. i believe from what i gathered higher temp over 6k looks bright if youre looking at it but not as bright vs 5k if youre the driver..

It's a chance you take.

If you buy from a vendor with integrity, who will immediately attend to any problem you have with your HID kit, it's a chance I take FOR you.

All you have to do is ask. I do special orders all the time. But as stated, these will not light up the road as well.

light colouring will suck balls at night...and H3's won't really fit on a yaris

you need H4 bixenon....fogs are h11....depot headlights use h1

Yeah, I agree that a 15,000K bulb won't work well. I have 6000K in my low/high beams, and 3000K in my fogs. Granted, I did a retrofit for the headlights, and the fogs are also projector fogs. But at night, it's awesome! I also tried 5400K bulbs for my low beams, but I like the white color (with a small blueish tint) to the 6000K. And they contrast very well with 3000K fogs. As stated above, anything over 6000K, the output sucks.

As for eBay, a buddy of mine got a kit from there, and after installing, one ballast flickered, and a bulb blew after a couple of weeks. It took over 3 weeks to get a replacement sent back to him!! Deal with a company, not eBay. I used DDM Tuning for my bulbs and ballasts. Great customer service! Garm also has the kits.

Look MICROIMAGE doesnt have everything. Look around at other shops such as NO Limits Built Inc. Its out in AZ. Not downing on Microimage or anything but he does tend to try and be pushy with his product...

^ Maybe because I'm the only vendor willing to put up the money to support you and this community, whether or not I make it back.

Geez.

sometimes its worth the extra $ to get good customer service

as for being pushy, he is the ONLY registered yarisworld vendor....and he sells more products for the yaris than anyone.

AND he's active in the community other than just parts sales...what have you added?

^ not my intention, just be clear about it. And I have no problem with recommendations for other vendors.

The "pushy" part was unfair.

Lame and classless.

Garm and his company are very stand up. I've yet to order anything from him, but I've witnessed many times where he stands behind what he sells and does a very good job at how he sells it and making sure his customer is happy. He also works hard to get stuff from Europe and Asia to our doorsteps at a good cost and in good time.

Try getting your average hole in the wall shop in Arizona to get you some suspension bits or a carbon hood to Michigan where the OP lives. And hell have mercy on you if what you receive is broken.

Yes. Yes it has.

I'm surprised a thread about cheap purple lights has turned into something about Garm's business ethics.

Bottom line, the guy is in business make money, and he is doing us a favor by helping us at this site which he clearly does not have to do. If dudebro has a problem with pricing or whatever, take it to PM directly with Garm, or just don't order anything from him. It's kinda shitty to go firing off at the mouth in random threads though, and I'm sure a lot of people would be pretty pissed off if Garm decided to pack up because a select few couldn't be cordial.

i must chime in on this... M.I. has helped me out alot with my purchases and things i have been looking for. i have bought MANY things from him just in the past 6 months.. and i bought my car new back in aug 2010. i feel proud to represent the MicroImage decal on my spoiler. all my parts on my car came from them.. except bodykit and spoiler.

In a nutshell: Garm is awesome and purple lights suck. Don't go anywhere else for parts or higher than 6000K. Period.

Now let's bury this thread. It's going nowhere.

Thanks for all the support. I just didn't like being called pushy, but otherwise, it's a free market, and everyone can and should make their own choices for their parts.

Meanwhile, I think the OP's question was answered more towards the beginning, so I'm not posting any more about anything else in here.
