Fellas,

Cabin filters are running about $7.00 on eBay.

However, I read that you can make 8 for about $16.00 by using a home filter.

However, my question is do you change the DIY home filter more often for fear of duct tape or DIY stuff falling apart. I see intervals for changing DIY filters to be 5,000miles.....

How about the $7.00 eBay filters? Do you change those at 30,000... if so then the eBay ones are cheaper to run?

Thanks!

Of course, it depends on how much you drive and if the conditions are overly dusty, etc.

Personlly, I have always changed a cabin filters (in my Toyotas) once a year (every spring) regardless if it is a ready made one, or one I made myself. This is based on driving an average of 12k miles a year.

Haveing said that, since cabin filers are now so cheap on line, I don't bother to make one any more.

I have also found the the ones I make myself have less airflow that the ones you buy, even it if by a small amount.

When should you change yours? When it needs to be changed.
Only you can determine that.

BTW, I got an eBay filter in mine.

Thanks for you input. My car is new so I do not have one. I am debating towards making my own... but I agree with your point.. is 7 dollars worth my time to make my own... I am leaning towards NO as well..
