Personally I don't like amber anyway. I hate that I'm forced to have amber blinkers, I'd much rather them just be white, but in AL a blinker has to be amber unless your car is one of those ghetto ones that blinks the whole tail light, which is even worse.
Also, I'd be one of the people confused by your reverse lights being amber. I'd be pondering wtf you have your parking lights on for then smash into the rear end.

not sure if this is illegal in my state..but i could see this being an accident at night in a parking lot if you were backing out. and i could see how it would be your fault if someone rear ended u..
if i dont see bright white lights when im looking for a parking space.. im gonna ignore the amber lights and assume your chilling at the wheel not going to be moving anytime soon..
just sayin..
be careful with that and drive defensively

It looks cool, but it is a bit dangerous too. In Puerto Rico ppl are doing it with there cars, I can't say I would but then again its your car, do you matt

Def illegal here in RI. Backup lights have to be white for all the reasons above. It's like having red headlights.....

It's illegal here in B.C. Pretty sure it's illegal in 99% of the world where there are fleshed out driving laws.

i mean i feel like if you cant tell if a car is moving forward or backwards then you prob shouldnt be driving in the first place just cause they are amber shouldnt make people react like "oh my god what is this person doing why are those lights yellow" ahhah i like it

Can you make a valid argument as to why you want your reverse lights to be amber? The only people who will notice (or not notice) are people behind you when you're backing up who are looking for white reverse lights.
I can't think of a reason for doing this... As people have stated, it just seems dangerous and illegal and serves to reduce your visibility when reversing.

well, you have to understand that not everyone pays attention on the road or even parking lots. they see lights on, no reverse, they might just ignore your car and keep driving looking for another parking spot.
ALSO.. i can see you stuck in a parking spot trying to get out and people are blocking you in because they do not see reverse lights on and assume your not trying to get out of a spot. and you will consistantly get blocked while your yelling "GET OUT OF MY WAY, CANT YOU SEE IM TRYING TO BACK OUT"... no they cant..

as stated above, cops wont pull you over cuz u got them on, UNLESS they are in the parking lot watching you back out.
but like i posted earlier, if someone does rear end you in a parking lot cuz you were backing out and they were not paying attention, they can easily put blame on you for stating that you have amber rear lights. then your insurance will pay for thier damage and yours.. and u will get a citation..
bottom line, its a neat little mod, but be careful and understand the concequences

I think it's more a case off "Just because you CAN, doesn't mean you SHOULD".
You CAN put red bulbs in your headlights and still see where you're going, but it's a dumb idea....

No...it's the other drivers who are dumb. Haven't you be paying attention?

the reason is i had the extra bulbs and wanted to try it and you dont really need back up lights in the daytime to see and like i stated I RARELY BACK UP

When it's dark, I'm in a parking lot and watching for other cars, etc. and saw parking lights, I wouldn't assume the vehicle is reversing and would continue forward until I got close enough to see that it's moving. I wear glasses and can't see well in the dark, I dunno why that's just how it is. That doesn't make me dumb, that makes me aware that amber lights are GD parking lights, and not reverse lights.

I guess, like so many of us here on the forum, you're just trying to personalize your car. But, it's probably not a good idea to have amber back up lights... as they are neither safe nor legal.
How about something like this if you want to have custom back up lights?

The difference being that the general public is stupid. Like was said, people have been trained since the advent of reverse lights to look for white lights to indicate a reversing vehicle.
This is a big if, but say you back into somebody. They "didn't see you" because your reverse lights are not the color they're suppose to be. That automatically raises an eyebrow on the officer writing the report, and that report will then get sent to insurance, which will then investigate why you have such an awkward mod on your car and possibly refuse to fix it, etc etc...it just seems like it has potential to become a bigger headache than necessary. Especially on a car that already has amber turnsignals.
I'm not sure about you either, but I back up at least two times every single day. When I park the car at work, when I park the car in the driveway and this doesn't include any other trips I make while out. It adds up dude. All for the sake of a mod you yourself can't even see unless somebody else is driving your car everywhere. Backwards. This is like the guy who was all knowitall about his green turnsignals a few months back.
Alas, like was said. Your car, do what you want. It just seems ill-advised.
