Hi,

I am posting on behalf of my girlfriend. I have just bought her a 53 reg Toyota Yaris with MMT transmission (1.0 T2).

We are having problems with the MMT in that sometimes if running around in traffic it slips into netural and displays the Multi-mode warning light. This normally occurs with a slight burning smell.

I have read a few posts that indicate the clutch actuator may be at fault and the warning is due to clutch\gearbox overheating. Does this issue sound like the same thing?

This leads to a few more queries, could this be fixed by myself and how? I have axle stands, socket sets etc. And an idea of costs would be good.

Many Thanks,

Kevin

Hi Kevin how have you got on diagnosing fault? Can I ask what mileage your Yaris has done?
I have a very similar problem on my 2005 AYGO with 74k on it. Have ended putting car to Toyota and they say fault is a thrust bearing in the clutch and also that the clutch actuator is damaged total bill 1200 quids......
Have been trying to find out how easy it is to fit an actuator and if the software needs reset afterwards?:iono:
