View Full Version : Reset my MIL with DIY code reader or need TIS Techstream?

I've currently got this issue (TSB) with my car:
T-EG048-07(M.I.L. ON DTC P043E, P043F, P2401, P2402, & P2419)

It's causing a MIL, and my inspection was out last month. So ASAP, I'm planning on getting a good used charcoal canister assembly from a 2008+ Yaris and NEW OEM fuel tank filler pipe cover and cover holder.

Now I have a pretty decent OBDII scanner. I know it can clear my codes because I've cleared the above listed codes a couple times just to see if I could (only for them to show back up as expected a day or two later).

My question is, if I replace all the stuff that's mentioned in the TSB, will clearing the codes with my reader be good enough, or is there something that the dealer would do with TIS Techstream that I can't do??

TIA

Should be fine.
Just remember after you clear the codes. The OBDII report from the car will be not ready and you will not pass inspection until you run it enough cycles for the computer to test all functions.
My AutoXray scanner tells me if the Ready Flag is set or not.
My ScanGuage also tells me if the Ready Flag is set.
Your scanner may also have a Ready Flag display and you may want to look and see if it does.

Roger that, my reader does show if the various sensors are "Ready" or not.
Thanks for the reply.
