This is my first car with a CD player. When it needs cleaning, is it OK to stick one of those CD cleaning discs that have a brush attached inside it? I'm kind of afraid to try one. :help:

No cleaning, and do not ever advise you not to do it

:help: Yeah, I know this is an old thread but I started it myself!

Now I'm getting disc reading errors part of the time. So how do I clean the CD player?

you have a 2010... is your car still under warranty?

and are you having issues with burnt cds or original discs?

People still use cd's ?!!? Loll jk.

Best bet would be to see if radio is under warranty. If not may be cheaper to replace it.

Can of air or one them cd cleaner disk.

Does it say Disc Error and some numbers?

No, my 36 months was up in June. Whenever I buy a new car, my years come first before the mileage, it's got only 20K on it.

Issues are with both types but most of the time it's ones I burn myself since I don't buy original discs anymore, just downloaded MP3's from Amazon. I think it says "reading error" but it pops it back out so fast I don't notice much else.

Hey! I still live under a rock! But seriously, I have no inclination to change out my OEM stereo for anything else. 99.9% I listen to the radio to/from work...and that's it. On a long drive I play CD's.

I may give canned air a try. I'm afraid to stick one of those CD things with the brush attached inside such a thin opening. It may get stuck.

Factory Scion cd players fit. Most people throw them away or leave them in the closet after replacing.

Just a random option.

Your radio have auxiliary option ?

I would try blowing in compressed air.

If that doesn't work, upgrade it to another OEM radio. The newer radios out there are really nice now.

I see an AUX button at the bottom of the unit...also down in front of the handbrake, there's an AUX thing to pull up that looks like a 1/8" plug fits into. Is that for an MP3 player to plug into? I'd never noticed it until today!

I did that tonight when I got home from work. So far, no errors but I haven't given it enough time yet to see.

Sounds like a plan....I get those cables confused but I know what you're talking about. Thanks!
