Had 3 within 5 months. One dropped instantly, one dropped through traffic school, and one still on my record.
Even though the Yaris isn't the textbook definition of a cop-magnet, the driver still can be. Be careful out there.

fo sho but i think all black cars with tints (even though mine arent that dark in the front i think 50%) draw a little attention its like a drug dealer car haha but if you have a loud axle back i.e. the hk i just got rid of the loudness makes cops think twice i think

Got pulled over a few months ago for misuse of a turn lane and got 2 more tickets on top of that one for no insurance and expired tags.
just to be clear i did have insurance it just turned out i handed her the older one that was still in my car. stupid bitch really didn't need to give me a ticket for that but whatever. i guess i learned my lesson???

Sounds like she was in a nasty mood  (may be a permanent condition).
I was stopped when all I had was an older insurance cert. Just didn't get around to putting the new one in. He said "No problem" and looked me up in his cruiser computer and told me that my insurance as up to date.
Connecticut really keeps tabs on your insurance. You drop it and they know immediately. :eyebulge:

See Texas has something similar to that. I know because I let the insurance lapse on my scooter and I got a letter from the state basically saying I need to get insurance on it.
I've also been pulled over in the past and didn't have my current insurance paperwork and the cop just simply asked if the car was still being paid off since he knew as long it's financed then by law I have to have full coverage or wouldn't have been able to even buy the car.
But I guess on this most recent occasion she was looking to give me as many tickets as possible since I was that guy using the turn lane as a passing lane. Which I still say wouldn't have had to happen if the guy in the left lane wasn't going 5 miles under the speed limit which just so happened to be the exact same speed as the person in the right lane. Imagine that.
Geez I hate driving. Just typing about it makes me annoyed.

^The time of the month you got the ticket can also play a role. Cops have to meet a quota by the end of the month, so that's usually when they're the biggest assholes. That was my case for the ticket that got dropped instantly (issued on 5/28/10).
And maybe your issuing cop was also having her own time of the month at the same time...

It's against the law to have a 'quota' they mark their performances monthly and what tickets are issued for due to making sure no one is abusing power and for promotions etc. So unless they are trying to get a promotion it is just the cop being an idiot, because even then - speeding tickets etc are just pity.
25km/h over the limit is a ticket anything higher is public endangerment can lose your license etc.
Atleast that is how it is here in Canada.

I'm pretty sure they have quotas here. Don't think they call it a "quota" though. In the states speeding tickets are a necessary source of revenue for that state. That's just the way it is.
And I certainly don't fault her anymore for being a woman. Male cops are usually much bigger assholes than she was. And like I said I am the one who broke the law in the first place for her to have even needed to pull me over so oh well. Life goes on.
But I still hate driving. Unless it's late at night and no one else is on the road. Now that's good driving.

25km over the limit won't get your license taken away.
16km over the limit and you will get points on your license, anything over 50km above the speed limit and you will get your car taken away on the spot, and charged with "Street racing".
But you're right about no quotas. I find it hard to believe that ANY place has quotas they have to meet. I hear it a lot though, and it's the same thing with drive test centers. There is no actual quotas, but there is over sight to see if power is being abused, or to see if a cop is just sleeping on the job and not giving out anything.
The part that annoys me though is that cops speed all the time. You shouldn't really give people a ticket if you're just going to go out and do the exact same thing.

I hate speed traps with a passion normally reserved for Tom Brady and the Patriots. But I do understand the need for revenue. What I think they should do instead is give out "following too close" tickets.
It's much safer to be doing 20k over the limit with nothing around you than it is to be driving 2 under really, really close to someone.

while they don't have "quotas" per se, if a cop does 50 tickets one month and then 10 tickets the next, their superiors will think that they are slacking(even if they are not)... often times, at least in larger cities, officers become a victim of their own success if they happen to trip over a really good location for catching speeders...

Around here, the speed traps are all in the same areas. I'd be surprised if it wasn't the same everywhere in the world.
Areas with flat, long stretches, a lack of traffic lights but an unusually slow (likely because of schools or houses close by) speed limit are always speed trap areas.

at least in spokane, there are enough areas that work(schools, parks, into and out of the city, main roads that have multiple speed limit changes) that they rotate them...

In 42 years of driving, I've only received one ticket - 2 years ago for not wearing my seatbelt. I've been pulled over for other things but always have managed to talk my way out of getting a ticket.

46 years driving (legally) -0 tickets! Mainly due to the luck of the Irish.
