Well I upgraded my speakers in my Yaris over the weekend and I am dissapointed with the results. I was also going to add a line out converter and add a sub that I have but I decided against it because I believe it will sound even crappier. I am sure the reason I am dissapointed with the upgrade is because our factory head unit is garbage. I have decided to upgrade the headunit and went on Amazon and purchased the Pioneer AVH-3300 BT. I have a few questions. Does anyone know how to do the Parking Brake bypass on this unit? I have read somewhere that you need a relay and cannot ground it like you were able to do in the past with these types of radios. Also, I would appreciate if anyone can give me some ideas of where would be the best place to put the Bluetooth Mic. I have some ideas where to place mic but I am not sure if where I would like to place the mic it will be good enough to be heard clearly. I will post up pics of the install over the weekend.

Talk about coincidence. I was researching the same unit just this morning. Can be had on ebay for 337 delivered and the bypass is on ebay also for less than $10. Just do a search on ebay for "AVH-P3300BT" and everything should pop up. I was a little disappointed it did not have the rear camera option but everything else seem perfect in all reviews I have read so far.

Bypass can be done with any standard 5 pin automotive relay(about 4 dollars). All you do is run 12v(86), ground(85), and parking brake sensor wire(87), then use a jumper to connect the ground to the other open pin(85&30).Tape the heck out of it and tuck the relay behind the head unit when you put it back. I just did this install with the same head unit in my Yaris about three weeks ago.

How do you like it in general? Especially bluetooth and iphone operation? did you need to purchase a din adapter or does the unit fit as is? What about wiring, any special harness required?

I don't use the bluetooth, but my Iphone runs flawlessly...I can control my pandora through the head unit which was crucial. The touchscreen is nice, and there are a good amount of features, color options, etc.

The unit fits, you just need the two plastic spacers for the sides and It looks factory when all said and done. You will need a harness, think it was something like 90's to current Toyota IIRC, but don't quote me. Install took about 40 minutes, but I take my time and heat shrink wrap all of my connections, etc...I'm kinda a stickler when it comes to wiring things.

For the price(I paid 300.00 OTD from a friend, everything included) I'm very very pleased with it....I paid 3,000 for my last in dash, but that was over 10 years ago.

Is (86) the Amp Remote instead of Power Antenna? and if I am running a sub amp do I run the same remote wire from the relay to the amp?

Yeah, use the Amp Remote instead of the power antenna wire. That bypass works great, as I've used it in numerous installs.

You can do that too, you just need a 12v source that powers on with the radio. I like to use a source that's not going to be utilized elsewhere, but it doesn't really matter.

Mazilla, I think he means the amp turn on compared to the antenna, since some headunits only send power to the antenna output when the radio (AM/FM) is on. So potentially, while watching a DVD, you might not have that trigger to the relay.

BTW, watching old Simpson's episodes while driving is awesome!!

I have been so busy lately but I figured I would give an update. I ordered this radio from Amazon and it is one of the best radios I have ever had. I know it is only a $349.00 radio but it does everything I need and more. I have Netflix that I can stream from my iPhone as well as personal videos that I take on my iphone and videos from You Tube, also you can use Navigation from Motion X GPS for a mere .99 cents that will play on the screen. The Pandora works seamless with your iPhone and also the Bluetooth connection is very easy to use and I have yet to have any problems. I recommend this radio to whoever has an iPhone as this is a great radio at a really good price. I have added some pics so you can see how the radio matches the dash lights.

great to hear that you are enjoying the HU. I have been mulling over picking it up as well. I think that the Pandora integration is a huge step forward however I am seriously disappointed in the market when it comes to only going the extra mile for the iPhone. I really wish that someone would step it up and start to support the open formats that the different Android handsets have. I also read on a couple forums that there is a demo mode that can't be disabled on the 3300? Lastly, Crutchfield has it listed as supporting the rearview camera...is this an error on their part or does it?

Yep, supports rear view camera no problem.

Thanks to mazilla for his excellent diagram. I installed my AVH-3300BT tonight without any hassle.

Yarisworld is an excellent resource.

I downloaded the motionX gps and netfix apps, but can't get my unit to show on screen for either. I connected both the aux and power/usb plugs from the iphone to the unit. Nothing for gps, and only sound for netflix. No picture though.

Where do you get a dash kit for a 2009 yaris 4door sedan? Best Buy is telling me it doesn't exist, and I can't find it online.

There is your first problem...the bulk of the people at Best Buy don't know their ass from a hole in the ground....not all, just most.

You can get this on amazon.com. I put it in that location on wheel cause it's best location for reading head unit. My wife likes it there and she use to it now.
