I've was getting letters in the mail for some time from my Toyota
stealership and all of them were about how they were interested in
buying my Yaris for an above average price or trading it in for a really
high price as well. I figured it was just a sales gimmick that they sent
to anyone regardless if they drove a Yaris or a Tundra even. Well today
I check my phone and the stealership has actually started calling me.
Needless to say I didn't answer and they left a message. It was a sales
associate from where I bought my Yaris back in 07. Basically he introduced
himself and told me that he was really interested in "reacquiring" my Yaris
off of me and to let him know if there is any way possible at all that we
can work something out.

Anyone else getting these types of letters or calls? I wonder if Yariis in this
area are hard to come by and ontop of that with the earthquake in Japan recently, including these rediculous fuel prices, it's making it real hard for Toyota to have Yarii's on the lot for sale regardless if they are new or used.

I haven't received any calls or letters like that. So it's probably just certain areas. Or your dealership really really needs Yarii. ?? I recently got a letter about some recall having to do with TRD wheels on the Tundra but that's about it.

Needless to say it might be worth hearing them out. But unless it's an offer you just can't refuse I'd hold onto the yaris.

I've gotten letters like that, but never a call, thank God...
I was looking into a FIAT 500 though. Saw them at the new showroom by me, they are INCREDIBLE!

Buy low, sell high?

If they make an offer that it'll be hard for me to refuse, I'll have them re-acquire my Yaris.

Maybe not...

I got the letter. No phone call (well, I moved anyway, so they don't have my phone number).

Doesn't matter, I'm keeping my Yaris for now.

i get letters every so often. In general it is never worth it simply because they won't give you enough to replace the car.

I used to work as a sales rep years ago for a very short period of time. This was a practice when business was really slow to try to drum up business. They buy the car off you and then can resell it as a certified preowned. Then get you in a new car. Its a win win for the dealer. When i went to buy my car the certified preowns were selling for MORE than the new car. Which is only reason i bought a new car. The certified preowns however come with a 5 year warranty.

maybe it's because they know what all i've done to my car that i haven't received any of these calls or letters. lol. actually when i sold my last yaris to them i had to practically beg them to take it. it was unaltered too. *shrugs*

I get letters frequently offering to "buy back" my Yaris and I use to get them for my Celica. I get the letters from dealers locally and from over 50 miles away.

It's just a sales gimmick, a way to draw customers into the showroom and nothing more. "Buy back" is just another way to say "trade in"

Yep sales gimmick pure and simple.

I've only ever gotten one from Toyota. I do however get them about 4 times a year from Chrysler. Just to highlight what a gimmick it is, the letter from Chrysler states that they are always looking for hard to find, high demand vehicles like my 2001 Grand Caravan.

Hard to find my a$$.

I've gotten both letters and a call. I think that they're hoping to sell off some new inventory by getting previous Toyota owners to trade in

+1 on this!

It's just your dealership drumming up business. They'd like nothing better than to rape you for your trade and sell you something new. That's how they roll.
At least it was actually your sales rep. calling, not some call center in India like many business' hire.

You sir, have a gift! If I only had what you have then I wouldn't have to constantly come-up with new ways to scare-off telemarketers. And yes it does get harder over time...

no it doesn't. just tell them you are psychic and their call center is about to be bombed.

I give out a Google Voice phone number where any number that isn't specifically listed to be sent to my real phone goes into the sales/telemarketer group and gets a message that I don't take calls from telemarketers. I always leave SSN blank.

yea, i get that letter also for my tacoma.. even though i already traded it in for the yaris. I still get a letter from the dealership asking to buy back my truck..lol

its just a sales tactic to keep you in debt and give them money in intrest fee's. they want you to have a payment for 5-6 years.. always..
