I am interetsed in hearing from anyone who is in Michigan, Ohio or Indiana that is planning to see how competitive the Yaris is with some suspension and wheel/tire upgrades and maybe CAI.

anyone? huh. autoX is about the only motorsport activity that a Yaris in near stock or tweeked with bolt-ons would actually be pretty quick at.

Really? A Yaris with a stock motor finished on the podium at the Runoffs last year.

The Yaris should be a decent STF car. Call up AST-USA for some trick shocks and stiff springs, find a set of 15x7.5" SSR comps and toss on the 195 Toyo R1R.

The biggest hurdle for the Yaris in ST is engine management, there is no inexspensive way to extract all the untapped power. If you want full control, like we have in the Prod car, expect to spend well over $2k. :frown: But you can get most of the way there with a Camcon and some bolt-ons.

Milwaukee is a very active Region, and a lot of fast guys run there: http://www.scca-milwaukee.org/solo/2012/12sched.html

Sometimes a Region will have multiple websites, one for autocross and one for road racing, so make sure you are looking in the right place.

Ok so tires!!!! Help!

1. Can you run your daily driver tires?
2. I don't want to spend much so what are some good cheap tires?

sorry, yes, in STF class you run tires with a treadwear of 140 or greater. and cannot exceed tire width of 225.

Toyo R1R's I have been told are what guys at nationals are running. Jason says 195 are the choice by many because of weight

I run Hankook RS-3's 225/45/15. I have been kicking ass so far in that department. I will try the Toyo R1R's later in the year when these wear out.

If you can, post in the track category, I hardly look at this. I just scan thru the regions every now and then. So happen to see the blue dot in this region and saw ur post.

No, they run the 195 because it is a different compound, softer than all the other sizes.

Really? Thanks for that tip. I had no idea they were a softer compound because of size. That really influences my choice in next tire size then.

Pardon the thread necro, but which sidewall on the 195 Proxes? I would assume that the compound is the same (same speed rating) but tirerack lists them as both being 20 lbs. Perhaps the difference is being hidden by the not-displayed decimals?
